New shocks?
Question for all of you suspension experts.
My warranty is now over and I really want to improve the suspension (take the bouncyness of the rear).
My car is now 2 years old, and I drive through terrible pavement conditions and have to go through 18 speed bumps a day (I swear, I count them). What would you recommend?
I donīt want to lower the suspension and I prefer a soft ride, but the way my rear bounces on less than perfect pavement feels really unconfortable and even dangerous.
Iīve read about Koni yellows everywhere in the forums but, would these be good for my driving conditions? Are these direct bolt-ons or do you need to modify?
I also read that for 03 the civicīs springs and shocks were retuned, anybody knows if the new stock setup is really an improvement?
Thanks

well it seemed like you've been reading a little but not quite enough...
only aftermarket shocks out there would be koni yellows and they would be pefect for you since you could adjust the damper settings.. too soft, them make them stiffer. too stiff, then make them softer.
but ya they are inserts so your going to have to cut your front struts. the rears are a replacement tho. as for and its been 2 years so you have an 01 right. their suspension is known to be very bouncy, they improved it in 02. not sure if they improved it even more in 03 tho. what i would do is test drive it and see if you like it. they're probably cheaper then konis. but ya i would just get konis, i'm sure they'll be worth it

Thanks, its a good idea to test an 03 and see how it feels. 01īs are just way too bouncy, and since I now decided to keep the car for two more years then its worth investing in improving the suspension.
The one thing I cant believe is thereīs only one brand and one kind of aftermarket shocks for our cars. (and expensive ones)

All the manufactures can custom make shocks for you. Give them the specs(stroke, dampening rate and etc) and they will do it. I know Koni does it. You guys can use the H&R group buy can get the cupkit dampers. For the same price as the Konis, you get a matched shock and damper with a shorter stroke. I know bilsten makes the shocks for the H&R coils. Just a thought.

Actually I'd reccomend getting Grown controll coilovers and Koni Yellows. Leave the Ground controlls at their highest setting which is same as OEM.and you'll have a firm but very smooth ride
I'm tired of my ground control. They are making too much noise now. I never had that problem. I also have the Konis. I think I might put the stock springs back on for now until I get the bags.
