Tein vs. B&G

I'm going to be putting a full coilover system on my car and i was wondering if anybody here has them on their cars, or if they know which brand is better. I have seen them on modacar and I'm going to order but I wanted to know what you guys think. My stock struts are completely blown and I was thinking about going with the koni's but for the money I might as well go for the big dog coilover set up. The Tein set up runs $1150 and the B&G is around $1600.What should I do?

My dad is running Tein SS on his RSX, it is a very high quality setup, the front camber plates are a definite plus if you like to play with alignment specs for autocrossing etc., with them all set to the middle setting they ride very smooth, not as harsh as my koni/H&R setup on mid setting. Plus he has the EDFC on backorder so he can control the settings from in the car

kind of off topic, but how do the h&r coilovers stack up to those two? also any one know who's selling the h&r coilovers, or if there even out yet (there site says they do have some for the 01 civic). link

I like how my B+Gs handle several people on this site are encountering problems with their B+G coilovers, but they have a lifetime warranty (except the shocks have a 2yr warranty). the problem is a clicking noise coming from the front whenever you turn your wheel at slow speeds. this problem has occurred with other brands of springs too, even stock, so I dunno. I'm getting airbags for my car and plan on getting a warranty replacement for my B+Gs and selling them brand new. this won't happen for maybe another 2 months though.

I also hear the B+Gs can give you a lower drop than the tein's, though I haven't confirmed this. when I first installed my B+Gs I had it lowered all the way and the car was just 2" off the ground, hadn't even settled yet

You should've posted this in the 'Suspension' section.

Anyway, I like my Tien Type SS. Very good. The difference between B&G and the Tien is B&G have automatic damper while Tien has manual. You can't really set how the way you ride on the B&G although the ride quality is good. As for the Tien, you can have finer tuning (ie: 60% front / 40% rear, etc). Ride quality on the Tien is also good. So far on myne, no problems.

Tein SS? If you are going to pay 1600 for the B&Gs you might as well pay 100 bucks more for the tein Flex. I have mine on order and should get them at the end of the month. The mounting perches are adjustable(just like the FLT-A2 from JIC) and give you full suspension travel at a 2.5 inch drop. The pillowball mounts are included for the front(camber adjustable) and rear. The FLT-A2 are not out for our cars yet, but the RSX ones should fit are cars(they have the same spring rate and dampening).

Just to make your decision tougher, PM 2cute and she could get you a way better price on the B&G setup. Probably about 1200 shipped. We have a few threads about this exact decision, with alot more info. Just go ahead and do a little search.

ya B&Gs retail for 1600 but who pays retail. i think you can get them for around 1200. this guy said he could get it for a little over 1000 for the rsx's, i asked him if he could do the same for us. he has yet to get back to me.
i personally would go with b&gs cause i dont think the teins drop low enough. i know i probably wont even drive around that low anyways but i'm sure i'll have a couple days where i want to slam that *****. oh and the self adjusting ... heard it was a dream going over speedbumps

Hey milky, I have the Tein type ss, and they are the best suspension I have ever had, Coils are fully adjustable and the damper is adjustable also, so you can have it as stiff or as soft as you want it. It is definitly worth the money. If you really want to slam your car, this suspension is not for you.

get the cupkit then. $585 shipped to your house from GroupBuy. The H&R coils are 7 something and should be just as good as the Tein SS and a lot cheaper. You can get bars all around(generic) and a stiffer rear sway(RSX).

i just ordered a set of Tein SS's earlier this week, and they shipped today (props to Rob @ TornActive, nice price and no shipping)

i decided on Tein's because i have heard of all the ppl with B&Gs that have that clicking noise, which i could not deal with, and i like that the Tein's are adjustable. i should be able to install them next weekend, since they should come the 31st of Oct. i'll post pics and shiz when they're on and a review
