Which is the correct measurement to cut? What did everyone else cut?

The drilling part isn't what I was refering to, but thanks for that info, because the Koni instructions say that hole should be 14mm. If 10 works, I'm drilling 10mm(better safe than sorry). Dunno if you still have the Koni instructions, but I was refering to picture #4 where you measure from the top of the strut to cut with a hacksaw. The koni instructions look like it says to measure 7mm from the top then cut with a hacksaw. Honda Tuning says 40mm.

The 7mm doesn't make sense. Why cut 7/10 of a centimeter? I just want to make sure that you should actually cut 40mm.

Thanks. It was so odd to see 7mm on the Koni instructions. Guess I'll do this tomorrow night

There was a design revision. The earlier Koni's instructions said 40mm and the newer instructions say cut less. This was confirmed by Koni

Why was the revision made? 7mm seems so small though.... compared to 40mm

Had a chance to call Koni today and the dude told me to measure the Koni from top of the strut to the yellow nubs, then subtract 7mm and that is your measurement to cut

14mm from the top sounds about right.

But what I noticed, when I finished everything, is that it really doesn't matter, as long as the nubs are covered....

I think koni wants them to be covered by atleast 7mm, and that's what they're trying to tell you in the directions.

If you want to know how to press them in after you cut everything, then you can check out my review:

what about the rubber bumpstops. i was talking to the shop and they said that in order to fit the konis in, they would have to remove the rubber bumpstops which was making my car bottom out a lot. but when i called koni up they said that it would fit. anyone know anything about that?

I left everything the way that it was, and have no problems. I use the eibach prokit springs, which is about a 1.5" drop. I didn't have to cut anything.

I cut my strut housings 40 mm and also did the same for another guy's struts. They work fine.

Eibach says to cut some off the bump stops in the rear. I did that too.

The whole Prokit-Koni setup is really nice.

14mm works fine for the mounting bolt hole too. You have a large bolt head with a star washer that goes there. Just be sure to follow the torque specs. I checked mine after 1000 miles and there has been no loss of torque on those bolts.
