I have a 2001 Civic LX Coupe, with 17x7 rims wrapped in Yokohoma Avid H4 (215/45/17). Today I just had a set of Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs installed. Almost everything is great; the appearance, road holding, even the ride is actually still quite nice. One thing is really wrong though, and it is high speed lane changes. The car sways like CRAZY!! When I compete a lane change, the body of the car swings to one side, then another.. almost like I am doing it super aggressively, but I am not. I noticed *slight* more sway when I bought new rims & tires, but now it is extremely noticeable. I would say to the point of dangerous.

What is wrong? Do I need new shocks? I have almost 70,000km (about 43,000miles) on it... hmmm. My last car (a Toyota) went on to 160,000km without needing to replace shocks..... is this normal? Or is it something else besides the shocks?

Help would be much appriciated...

first of all 43 grand in mileage....dizamn, where u been goin. just make sure u put the right springs in the right places, the bigger ones go in the front and the smaller ones go in the back, make sure u didnt put them on upside down, make sure all the strut bolts up top are tightened, wait a minute dont u like only turn the wheel like less than an inch while changing lanes on the high way, i guess i dont understand how that can happen if ur changing lanes gently

a rear sway bar will definitely help..

you have a 2001 LX so you dont have one... you can't easily bolt on a RSX sway bar too...

check for an aftermarket rear sway bar... or check the DIY on LX rear sway bar... but its quite a hassle if you ask me... you gotta fabricate a few parts on your own...

I haven't heard of this problem yet... other people with larger rims/tires and a drop havent' complain about sways... but...

the soft stock shocks are definitely an issue too... but a rear sway bar is cheaper..

i have no idea why your having that problem... lowering your car should have made your car "swing" less... blown shocks doesnt effect it too much. and the rims should have even made the handling better... maybe they installed it wrong... they might have broken one of the tie rod ends so the wheel moves loosely...
