cutted rear springs
I know, EVERYONE SAID "DONT DO IT!", but i had too. So here's the story: I receive my Spring springs (2" drop, part #1014) but during installation i was informed that the 1014 were for the (4dr...checked the catalog). This meant that the rear springs were LONGER than the stock springs, so they went ahead and i told them to cut it about 1-2 rings. The car sits very nicely, 2 finger gap and NOT BOUNCY AT ALL. The ride is smooth and not as bad as i expected them to be... anyway, what side effects am i going to experience later on?

Cutting the spring from what i heard drops some of the rate and will push the spring to share the rates, if it a progressive spring. I am not sure if i am right so someone correct me but i know that it isnt good for the spring.

That happend to my friend when he cut the springs in his 95 neon.

Rep Power: 0 I couldn't send them back.... i bought them off a member. Sometimes i hear a "clunk" noise...i hope they don't fly out.lol

Rep Power: 0 he reason you are ok doing that to Sprint springs is they are not progressive springs. There will most likely be no harsh effects on your car from this. the only problem you may run into later is a blown strut. Just about any other spring on the market you can not cut.

Rep Power: 0 A strut bar will do absolutly nothing for your struts. A strut bar is a chasis stiffener not support or anything like that. Uh as far as a new strut go for some aftermarket struts.

Rep Power: 416 yup 2cute's right...i'm not exactly sure how the sprint springs looks like(i'm pretty sure its similar to neuspeeds) but on the nuespeed, the springs have dead coils so its ok to cut those... there will be no side effect, expect for the ones dealing with the car being lower such as blown struts... you could ride on blown struts but the ride is going to be badd and you have a slightly higher chance of rubbing but since its only a small drop, its pretty unlikely that it'll happen...
as for the noise, its most likely due to the springs not sitting right on the lower/upper perch... mines been making that noise since the day i got them.. after checking the struts/shocks numerous times i have found no damage so i guess it'll be fine... i'm getting used to it. too lazy to bother with installation again.
