Air Suspension

I'm thinking about doing air suspension on my 2005 Honda Civic EX Coupe with has a tire size of 215/75R17. Just wondering where I can find decent air ride for around $400-$500, pros and cons, as well as difficulty as I won't have money to put it in the shop for a pro to do it.

Re: Air Suspension

You won’t. You’d spend AT LEAST double that for a decent setup.

Should probably worry about putting a new engine in first

already got the new engine and trans ordered and I bought all new sway bar end links front and rear,, control arms,, an inner and outer tie rods. I have coilovers coming in but seems like it'll be too expensive to get air suspension just yet

why 75?!?

and by air suspension, do you mean the aid springs that fit inside the regular suspension? Or are you asking about the system that makes your car "dance" (low riders).
usually coilovers have shorter travel, mind you.

75 because that's just what I have on my car I guess. and I'm talking about a full air suspension kits that when the cars off it'll lower an inch above the ground and when I turn it on it gives me about 2.5 inches maybe 2 inches of clearance. Or just a toggle switch that allows that

Re: Air Suspension

these cars use 185/60R15 stock...
check the door jamb. it shows the stock sizes.

If you use full air suspension kit, you will not need the coilovers...

so I can't have aftermarket rims? Just because it's possible to be stock doesn't mean that it is. Like the other guy said, I'm doing an engine swap currently soooo. And I specified what I had because it's what I have. It doesn't matter what stock is at all. And I currently have lowering springs but bought cheap coilovers that should be here by next week. Gonna install those then down the road I want to do air ride because it would look even better. And with me later down the road making this car my drag car, it seems like a great option

Re: Air Suspension

He's emphasizing that because the tire width AND aspect ratio AND rim diameter is larger than stock. Stock wheel size is actually very important.

I don't believe your aspect ratio is 75. I'd be more inclined to believe 45 or 50. I don't think 75 would actually fit on the car.

215/75R17.5 is a common tire size for one-ton pickups and transport trucks. I get they're not the same but the sizes are very close.

I compared the stock civic wheels with 215/70R17 (because it won't calculate 75) and it's a whopping 23% out of spec. For reference, you don't want to exceed 3% in either direction.

I'm not sure I'd agree that the 7th gen would make a great drag car, but I digress.

Re: Air Suspension

215/75R17 would not fit the car with stock car height.
If you are using lowering springs, even worse.
Are you talking about a civic?!?
Can you properly decode a tire size?

Re: Air Suspension

That's a HUGE tire for a civic. Holy hell. 225/45 is barely over the edge of being too wide without rubbing, but 275/45? 215/45 is def where it's at.

Oddly enough, it doesn't throw your speedometer off as much as I expected. +9.3% is still a pretty big difference (at indicated 60mph, actual is 65.6mph), but I somehow expected it to be more.

Re: Air Suspension

yeah.. mixed my numbers up.. I'm trying to ween myself off my morning caffeine. Still huge with that sidewall, and even worse with the +21.3% speedo change (indicated 60mph, actual 72.8)

I never once stated I could read or write..

Re: Air Suspension

Those are 30 inch diameter tires, compared to the stock ~24 inch.

Re: Air Suspension

worse even, they are not for sale and not in production. I have not seen that tire size in T&RA standard either.
They don't exist. The closest is the 16" with that section.

Re: Air Suspension

well the largest tire i ran on my 05 was a 225 40 r18 and that fit well
a 75 series tire would be insane to try and stuff it under there
i bet they meant a 45 series tire
God Bless,John

Re: Air Suspension

So I realized my aspect ratio is 45. Sorry for the confusion everyone. I have concluded that I'm just gonna do coilovers since air ride is prone to breaking easier
