Where to start modding/upgrading suspension

So I bought an 01 DX coupe. The previous owner's exboyfriend lowered her civic, but she didn't like it and got it brought back up. So I'm not really sure what happened to the suspension. Anyways, out of personal interest, I kind of want to do some work on the suspension. I'm not sure where to start because I'm a total noob at this, so can someone give me some ideas?

Also, what do you think happened to the suspension? The car, at least the front, still looks a little lower than stock, thanks guys!

Sounds like the ex installed some lowering springs, but the previous owner put the stock ones back on. Probably because the ride was rougher or something.

On a civic suspension assembly you have your shock absorbers and the spring that goes around them. You can buy each one separately (i.e. Tokico Blues and Neuspeed sport springs) or you can get some coilovers, which combine the two. Coilovers are adjustable but generally more expensive, so it all depends on what your goal is. Do you want to trade ground clearance for performance (not to mention looks) and slam your car to the ground, or do you just want a nice little drop with the increase in handling?

Unfortunately, with suspension price tends to matter. A $600+ setup will generally outperform/outlast a cheap set of house brand coilovers at Autozone.

There are quite a few discussions about the best struts/shocks+springs vs coilovers here, so enjoy the hunt!

couldn't really tell you without seeing pics of your springs. as for were to start since you have the dx there's no rear sway bar i would purchase a progress rear sway tie bar kit and there sway bar adapter kit http://www.corsportusa.com/store/cat...roducts_id=324
http://www.corsportusa.com/store/cat...ducts_id=21859
as for suspension either Koni yellows with Ground Control springs or progress technology cs http://www.corsportusa.com/store/cat...roducts_id=481

what is said above.
nother setup is the eibach springs (sport or pro) and tokiko blues. they work well from what i hear. i use the eibach pro + kayaba and always liked them.

Re: Where to start modding/upgrading suspension

My 3 favorite mods on my car:

#1 Sway Bar (less body roll and handling improved)
#2 Coilovers (looks better but ride comfort was reduced)
#3 Short Shifter (shift throw reduced and "sportier feel")
