Clunking on a Hot Day

This started sometime last year where I could here a low "clunk" in the front end of my 2003 Civic LX. Here's what I know about it:

-It doesn't do it (much) in the morning
-It gets louder in the heat of the day (above 80)
-Doesn't seem to be affecting performance (though car does seem to handle better in the morning, slightly shakier in the heat of the day, I know struts are old, replacing soon)
-First noticed it in the right side a year ago, only happened a few times, now I noticed it on both sides.
-Clunk can be caused by: quick turns, bumps or going over hills quickly
-If my transmission shifts hard, I can hear the clunk as well, but it rarely makes a hard shift

I know this could be anything from tie rods, bushings to strut plates. I don't think it's bearings as simply steering doesn't cause it, it feels more like when force is applied to the body (like the centrifugal force from a quick steer). Is there anything I can look for to help narrow down the issue? I'd hate to take it the mechanic just say "hey it clunks when it's hot out, gl hf".

Check your lower control arm bushings. Chances are they are broken
