Shock/strut question

Hi All.
To start I know nothing really much about my 2 Civics - 2001 and 2003 Civics. However, recently I have noticed that whenever I go over a bump in my '03 that the front tires feel like a basketball.

I had my trusted mechanic go out on a test-drive with me last week and he said "yeah seems your shocks on the front need replaced"

I know NOTHING about shocks, struts, etc. From what I have read the front is struts and the back is shocks.

What I was wanting to know is this: do the struts for the front come all in one pack? How many struts per side?

He mentioned that sometimes U can get a used set from someone that removed the factory ones because they decked out their ride and wanted something better, etc. Is it best however to go with new?

I should do the back but will do front for now re: $.

Re: Shock/strut question

i honestly wouldnt bother with getting used struts. you never know the ACTUAL milage on them, and why take the chance when ur spending all that money on labor?

i would highly advise you go with tokico blues. they are cheaper than OEM, and much better than oem. they are still soft and wont degrade ur ride quality.

on a side note, make sure you get the correct strut for ur civic.

because the 01-02 struts are slightly different than the 03-05.

Re: Shock/strut question

on a side note, tokico blues have a LIFE TIME WARRENTY. if they blow, tokico rebuilds it or sends you a new one.

Re: Shock/strut question

I was thinking of buying online but I am so scared of getting ripped off.
Is there a trustworthy site that anyone could recommend? I live in Canada btw.

Re: Shock/strut question

just look at which places are cheapest online.

autoanything.com is pretty cheap legit websites.

procivic is the cheapest i believe http://www.procivic.com/pages-produc...440/index.html

you want to make sure you buy it from an AUTHORIZED WEBSITE or else ur lifetime warranty isnt valid.
