drop spindles, poor ride quality?

so, i just bought an '02 civic ex in amazing condition!, and i was told that it has been lowered with drop spindles. let me preface by saying that i'm not car savvy, and not looking to modify it. i bought it as a good gas mileage, commuter car. now, although i like the lowered stance of the car, the ride quality is awful! it bumps and bounces something terrible, and i guess my question is, how do i fix this? is the answer returning it to a stock setting? what would this entail? thanks for your help.

Re: drop spindles, poor ride quality?

Sounds like the struts are just about done. Previous owner probably installed lowering springs on stock struts.

If you wanna keep the lowered stance, a good strut replacement would be Tokico HP shocks (commonly known as Tokico Blues). They run about 400-500 a set

Re: drop spindles, poor ride quality?

If your car is bouncing like that, it usually means the shocks are shot. New struts should alleviate the problem, but if you get struts that are designed for stock height, you'll just run into that problem again.

Switching to tokico blues would be a better choice because they're designed to support lowering the vehicle up to 2". It'll give you a slightly firmer ride than an OEM strut would, but still rather comfortable. I first lowered my car ('02 ex coupe) just shy of 1.5" on stock struts, then I switched them over to the blues and absolutely loved them

If you search for "tokico blues" you'll probably find a lot more information on them
