Tire Rotation
Tire Rotation
I have a 2009 Civic with 7900 miles. In the past, on other cars, I have rotated the tires every 7500 miles. The Maintenance Minder has a code for tire rotation, but it has not appeared. Should I rotate the tires at this point, or wait for the code?
Re: Tire Rotation
The stealership i bought it at wanted to do a tire rotation and balance for $39 i declined and will do the tire rotation at 7000 1000 miles from now.I use my regular repair shop which i trust. Remember a stealer has to get as much money from you during the waranty period or he fails at his purpose.

Re: Tire Rotation
I go with 5000 miles, and I always get the tires onto the opposite side each rotation.
Been doing it this way for years, good Michelins are $$
Once the tires are cupped/scalloped from being in one place or side too long they will never recover from it.

Re: Tire Rotation
buy a tread depth gauge, you can get them for less than $5. i work at a Honda dealership as an express lube tech, and half the time customers come in and ask for a rotation because of the minder system, i tell them they don't need one yet, because i measure the tires. on fwd cars, you want the best tires in front. if you measure the tread on all four tires, and the fronts have less tread on them by 1/32" or more, rotate them to the back. i usually end up doing mine every 5-7.5k miles.
