Lowering Question..

Hey, I have 17s on my stock suspension, and would like to get a drop this summer. What is a good setup that wont kill my wallet? i just want to get rid of most of the wheel gap....nothing too too low

Thanks

Re: Lowering Question..

tein s-techs would minimize the wheel gap, and a lip kit would help it look lower to the ground. i also think it would look bangin' with a crazy camber and tucked tires, but thats just me lol.

Re: Lowering Question..

you can, sure, but its not recommended. oem will blow very soon and you will have saggy rear and poor damping. i ran my lowered car on oem shocks for a couple years and it felt like i had no shocks. car was very bouncy, the rear was over an inch lower than the front, and steering/cornering was terrible.

Re: Lowering Question..

it says the s-techs are $195 at

http://www.optionimports.com/telospfor96c.html

is this for one spring?

$200 seems too cheap for all 4.
but then again, i don't know much at all about prices of lowering springs.

you would think they would specify what the package contents are, but i looked all over the page and couldn't find any.

I'd say thats for all 4 b/c i found a set of 4 brand new on ebay for like $170. springs arent as much as struts/shocks

Re: Lowering Question..

now that you mention it, Tein Basics are about $900 for a set, so $800 for a set of springs doesn't make any sense.

Re: Lowering Question..

tein basics are FULL coilovers, shocks and struts together for all 4 corners. tein s-tech are set of 4 springs only.

Re: Lowering Question..

best bang for the buck - Megan Racing springs. nice subtle drop. what i had on my em2 with 17's and 225/45 tires.
if you dont wanna regret saving and getting full coilovers. tein basics or better. upwards of $900 at that point. dont get cheap coilovers like skunk2's. you will have lowering spring quality feel.

Re: Lowering Question..

I just purchased this lowering kit Skunk2 Lowering Springs (Lowers about 2.0".) I was woundering if i needed to buy a camber kit or not. i dont want to spend the time and money if i dont need it. But if i do i will. I have not put the kit on yet

i dont like plain lowering springs,

Re: Lowering Question..

yeah dont be like me trying to get away with just springs. it doesnt work. sooner or later you need to take it all apart again for new shocks and camber kits. do it right the first time and you should get 5 yrs at least before changing the shocks again.
