Comfortable coil over

I have a Civic 04 VP 4DR with 60k miles.

I'm looking for a comfortable coilover kit.

I am NOT into racing, street race or anything that has to do with speed.

I AM for more MPG, comfortable ride, weight reduction, safe driving, reliability
I would like to drop the car just 1" or max 1.5"

Do you have any opinions, what coilovers are best for this ?

Re: Comfortable coil over

ok if your not into street racing or tuneing and want soft ride with good reliability why get full coilovers just get springs and struts unless you have money to blow.

I asked about coilovers as I'm interested in weight reduction. I don't have $1000 on new coilovers but I am interested as well in just the springs(as they are cheaper). What springs work best with the OEM shocks ? Also I don't want to blow my OEM shocks in 3-4 month after a possible spring replacement.
So what are your recomandations in regards of just new aftermarket springs & original (or close in price aftermarket shocks) ? Of course I need legendary reliability as the money are tight

Re: Comfortable coil over

The best springs to work with OEM shocks are OEM springs.
If I were you, I would save up on the coilovers because with springs on a sedan, the rears will sag. Tein basics are affordable and soft. Just go with them.

actuallly, the best springs that work with oem stocks are tein H.techs. they drop ur car less than an inch, and because they are made out of a material called "Vanadium" it is a much better ride than oem springs. =] i have personally have had these on my accord with oem shocks, and boy, it was like riding on air.

its not nice to high jack his thread, but since you asked already.

a proper drop will cost you $$$$

if you go with springs + oem struts

camber kit f/r - 150
springs - 300
labor - 100
alignment - 80 (thats $630 together with a crappy ride, bouncy as ****)
struts blow in a year
new struts (blues) - 400
labor - 100
alignment - 80

total: 1210 and you only have a shitty spring/strut combo thats so limited

if you go coilovers

basics - 900
labor - 100
camber kit - 150
alignment - 80

total is 1230. only slightly higher than springs/struts combo, but what are the benifits:

1. adjustability. lets say 6 months down the line u get subs, they will drop ur rear 1+ inch. then ur car is like a beaner's (no offense to hispanic people, thats just how it is around here)
2. they are made for each other. tein coil springs + strut = coilovers. they are made to work in sync with each other and will not blow if u drop too low (or else tein wouldnt have let you drop that low with them)
3. much better handling.
4. people who "do it right, and right the first time"

note: yes camber kit is necessary, period

Re: Comfortable coil over

^and then if ur liek kcari, you buy springs, spend all that money to get them installed and aligned...

then... a little bit down the line decide to buy coilvers....basics to be exact. and spend more money....

so whats the lesson? if kcari had bought coilovers in the first place, he would have saved alot of $$$$ and time.

i was actually talking about a lifted front and a slammed rear (because thats how ur civic will look like if u have a sub)

and if u lived here in southern cali, you'd understand.....because ever other car is a riced or beaned out to the max.

i can positively say you dont have as much rice and bean cars as we do in socal.
