Re: coilovers good or bad?????

Hey lowlife, why are you asking for opinions on these coilovers, if it seems you are already set on them? If you think they are good quality, then go for them.

Everyone else seems to have a different opinion on them, and you don't really care as what others think. So why have this thread here?

Just buy em, and be done with it.

Re: coilovers good or bad?????

Tein has a bunch of company headquarters in Japan - i assume they make most of their coilovers there. They also have an office in Taiwan but I do not know if they actually make or just assemble some springs or coilovers over there. They also have 2 US branches that deal with customer service and revalving.

Re: coilovers good or bad?????

It sounds like you don't need our help since you've got it all figured out. I don't know why you don't trust people who have had coilovers, when you're readily admitting you have never had them. As everyone keeps saying, Taiwainese products are generally of poor quality...I would NEVER, EVER drop a grand on a set of coilovers made there. Get a set of TEIN SS or those Progress ones, and be done with it, knowing that you have a good quality product with good support.

Also, I think that you should back up your info that the same company makes all of those brands. That's a rediculous statement to make without some legit support.

Oh, and you still owe $100.

Re: coilovers good or bad?????

i think multiple opinions are better then one .do you own bcs coilovers or do you just assume there junk because there made in tiawan .also because of the information i found and lordhelmet im not getting the bcs. and if you had read correctly i dident say they were all made by the same company but alot were outsourced in tiawan ........ helmet this is for you......

Re: coilovers good or bad?????

there all made in the same factory in taiwan, they just have different spring rates and colors.

Anyways, if anyone owns a ipod, laptop, cell phone or tv, then you own a product that contains taiwanese components. Taiwan, South Korea and Japan are the worlds largest manufacturers of semi conductors.

If they can manufacturer reliable computer chips then i'm sure they can make decent coil overs....coil overs isn't really rocket science and tein's are overpriced.

I think people are confusing products from taiwan and mainland china. Mainland china products tend to be substandard.

To the op, just buy the coil overs and let us know. People have already stated the reliable brands.

Re: coilovers good or bad?????

^I have heard that before, I just haven't even seen someone back it up with proof. Some people are adamant of that, and others say it's simply not true. Seems to me it would be difficult to prove, but that it should be before it's stated as fact. Certain brands seem to be prone to different problems, so I really am skeptical on the fact that they are all manufactured together.

The Tein "Company Profile" page states they're made in Japan: http://www.tein.com/company_profile/tein_worldwide.html

I wasn't trying to be a smart alec in my post, I was just saying that it didn't seem like the OP had much interest in the opinions of people who had used the product!

ok..i'll correct my statement. I know the d2, ksport, and apexi come out of the same factory since i asked d2 themselves and they admitted to it. They said the spring rates and a few other things are different.

I dont know about tein.

Re: coilovers good or bad?????

Simple litmus test. Ask them for a damper dyno of the dampers for your car.

If they don't have them or claim that they are a Trade Secret then they should be taken off your list of possible purchases.

And I still have no idea how a company that sells decidedly inferior dampers at inflated prices ever got to be known as a premier suspension company. Cough::Tein::Cough
