Tein Pillowball Top Mounts
Tein Pillowball Top Mounts
I have a set of Tein ss coilovers I'm trying to put on my 02 civic, but the coilovers don't have the pillowball mounts and of course the 02+ civics need the 01 top mounts, which can be replaced by pillowball mounts. I looked on Tein's website and they don't sell the mounts for 01-05 civics other than the EP3. Anyone know if the RSX pillow ball mounts work or if I could use the pillow ball mounts from the 00 civic. Also does it make that much of a difference putting on the pillowball mounts vs the oem 01 civic top mount, I won't be tracking by the way.

Re: Tein Pillowball Top Mounts
The SS and SS-P do not use the same dampers. The diameter is different, so is the thread pattern. You can use RSX mounts, but you would have to fabricate spring seats and crown nuts. You'll need a machine shop for that.

Crap.......that sounds like a lot of effort. I bought them used so I don't know if they are the ss or if they are the ss-p and I just didn't get the mounts. Is there a way to tell?? What do the thread patterns look like on the ss?? Thanks
Re: Tein Pillowball Top Mounts
I really wanted to get the most out of these coilovers but I'm too lazy and cheap to do any kind of fabrication haha!! Good to know that they don't miss a beat with the OEM mount setup.

Re: Tein Pillowball Top Mounts
the only advantage to the pillow ball mounts is easier camber adjustment IMO.. ive rolled with plain old SS's now for like 3+ years without a hitch.

Re: Tein Pillowball Top Mounts
pillowball mounts just make the ride stiffer, if ur not tracking u dont need it.
and i think the 02+ si pillowball mounts r the same as the 7thgen's but dont take my word for it

OK ill try to explain, dont shoot for me for
the bad englisch.I had the same problem
for my kw suspension, but i have some extra mount from my crashed civic.
I Deasembled the wholl mount you dont need to, you just need a pulley puller and buy the plastic honda spring seat (51726-s5a-004).
Pull of the round bearing ring holder.and you are done maybe some new
paint on it if its rusty.
