megan racing coilover problem

hey i've read into this but cant seem to get a straight answer, i have megan racing fully adjustable coilovers on my 2001 honda civic ex(coupe), si for us canadians....anyways the problem i am encountering is when i am turning into parkin spots or tight corners there is a sound coming from my coilovers. i checked into it and my preload on them seem fine, i have tightened the locking nuts or screws, whatever you call it in the right spots. but it seems as if they are winding themselves, like when i turn the noise is the coilover actually turning itself, therefore raising my front drivers side. i dont know if this has happened to anyone, or if anyone knows how to fix it, but any input would be appreciated.

Re: megan racing coilover problem

hey man i just did neuspeed springs on my 01 hx and i had a similar problem where the front left spring sounded like it was winding up and then poping when i turned. this seems similar to what i was experiencing. listen to the side where the sound is coming from what you have probably done is when reassembling the suspension the top mounting plate is turned the wrong way. so what you need to do is undo the top three bolts and the rest to take the strut out, then you will see a mark should be yellow or white make sure that mark is facing out toward you as you reassemble the strut and mount it in the car. you dont have to take the spring off just need to turn that top mount and it should fix your problem. let me know if that helps or any clarification is needed im sorry my writing can be confusing.

Agreed. The noise will come back eventually though, so you have to repeat doing it whenever the noise comes back. I'm used to the sound now so I just let it make it's noise.

They are coilovers, I'm pretty sure you have them set wrong. Also your dampening sounds off- reset the ***** on the top to have the same amount of clicks from one directions. The em2 is notorious for having the back end hop off bumps. To fix, make the back softer.

As for the orig poster... your information is in your other thread

Re: megan racing coilover problem

Did you try putting some white lithium grease on the top mount bearing. People always forget to grease the top mount and that causes annoying noises. Thats wut it sounds like to me. Also Could it be that your car is too low and the tie rods are in a V shape too much and thats causing problems too. It could also be the ball joint.
