Autox/Track Alignment

Hello everyone,

Ok so I recently purchased a set of 15x8 +36 offset along with some 225/45/15 Kumho Ecsta V700A. I was reading up on the tires and they require a lot of negative camber up from. -2.0 to -2.5. I was wondering what kind of camber do you guys recommend for the rear? What settings have you found that work for you? These rims and tires will be for autox and track days only, I'm going to keep the alignment the same and just put on some stock alloys with high tread wear tires for the daily driving. So please, feel free recommend me the most beneficial aggressive alignment you can.

Thanks much everyone.

P.s. I think I'm going to need to run spacers to get those tires to fit, just in case spacers must be taken into consideration for alignments. (But I doubt that)

Re: Autox/Track Alignment

Done right, you align it with a pyrometer reading.
Start with as much as you can put into the front, put half that in the back.
Spacers dont change the alignment, they just change the scrub radius, which will make the car act sluggish to react, and destroy wheel bearings.

Sigh, I don't have a pryometer so I guess I'll just have to guess. Are there any ways of making these babies fit without spacers? aka alternatives to spacers. Do you think I can get theses to fit boiler?

Re: Autox/Track Alignment

It really depends how wide they ACTUALLY are. I've got 205/50/15 R compounds that measure 220mm. Kumhos tend to be kinda wide, those things may measure out to 240. You can try sticking them on 35mm offset wheels, but thats about as low as I'd go. If they still dont fit, get skinnier tires. 205 r-comps is plenty of tire.

Re: Autox/Track Alignment

Hey Boiler I've been doing some research about hubcentric spacers. Those are better right? I found an old thread (https://www.civicforums.com/forums/4...tic-rings.html) where you mention buying hubcentric rings from discount tire for 15 dollars. Do these ring add onto spacers? Please clarify what this part is.

Re: Autox/Track Alignment

Nvm I get it, they are hubcentrics for the rim, not for a spacer. What do you think of hubcentric spacers boiler?

Re: Autox/Track Alignment

yeah man,
I want those 6UL's, RPF1, or rota RB's for it. I just took off my konig minuz and put them on my civic, to get something wider like those for the miata.

I love those wheels. What color?

Those are going to be big tires. Are you boosted? How low is your car, how stiff are your sways?

I think that spacers would not be a good idea. Maybe fender roll/pull + neg. camber, but with +36, the wheel will stick out a bit (or be flush), and those tires will bulge a bit past the wheels. I feel there is more potential for outer rub than inner(especially on track)(unless those tires bulge up close to the strut). IMHO.

Others should chime in if that is not correct in their experience.

Test fit them and see if you get rub on the inside. If they do, skip spacers and get smaller tires.

Re: Autox/Track Alignment

I got the normal silver machined color, no real need for black or the nickel.

I'm not boosted, and my drop is pretty low in the front and high in the rear. But I have coilovers so I can raise it to whatever I like. I have the 22mm rear sway on the car with poly bushings.

I'm less worried about outside rub, due to the fact that I can just raise the car. I'm more worried about the tire rubbing on the inside of the strut. I'm also worried about rubbing when turning full lock left or right. Might have to remove the fender linings for that. The rear also need some little plastic cover removed to fit the tires. I got one tire mounted yesterday. I'll be test fitting them soon, within the next 4 days. So you'll all figure out if 225 fit under a civic.

I can't return these tires, I got them at tire rack on sale. So I gotta make this work.
