shocks to make car even lower?
i ran into this guy publically and he said he had S techs on his car and thinking back his car looked slammed compared to what my is like now.
I still have a 2 finger gap all around and I'm not entirely happy with that.
Would getting after market shocks or struts make my car appear lower?
Would getting shocks and strufs affect my ability to drive over speed bumps (i have to drive over 8 daily)
What types of shocks would you reccomend for an 01 coupe with S techs springs.

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
if you drop it any further, you are really going to run into some issues with the speed bumps, and just driving over pot holes/ over bumps in the road. id stick with what you have man. slamming is very sketchy
Re: shocks to make car even lower?
dude if your gonna go over 8 speed bump daily, i recommend keepin that setup. i have 1 finger gap all around and goin over speed bump is a b1tch! i actually try to avoid as much as possible.

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
I want to gid rid of the gap entirely or half of what i have now.
So 1 finger? would shocks make that happen? Dont want to get new springs
Even before lowering I avoided shopping centers with speed bumps. Even if I was super hungry for something tasty to eat at a specific place I'd wait for someone else to drive me. Sometimes I would drive around a whole plaza to avoid speed bumsp because the feeling of my car jumping up like that hurts me as mentally im worried my tires might pop or rims might break and then ironically my damn alley just installed damn speedbumps because stupid kids always play there and stupid adults drive by really fast and probably hit one or two, luckily i don't live all the way at the end, because those people have to go over 15 or something a day! one way!! long alley!
there is a possibility if I parked further away that I can only go through 4 speed bumps a day in and out but i dont know what difference it'll make.
I had my friend spot me as I go over the bumps and he said i barely had an inch left before scraping (but I'm not doing the angle trick, just going over them just like normal)
thanks

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
Was the back lower??? maybe a system in there. Maybe his shocks were blown??
If you are scared of speed bumps, don't drive at all then. My car is lower than yours, and I know for a fact that my suspension hits the speed bumps harder than yours. You have nothing to worry about hitting speed bumps. Just take them at the appropriate speed, and don't fly over them like 90% of drivers out there.
I've had my suspension for 1 year now, and its harsh when it hits speed bumps and pot holes. However, I've had no problems so far. Also the sidewall on my tires is a little thinner than yours. Trust me when I say this, you have nothing to worry about. My car is my daily driver too, its my only car for that matter.
As for making the car lower, get different springs. You can slap on new shocks and struts, but you'll still be riding around the same height. If you are unhappy with the height, get new springs, end of story.

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
okay thanks for theinfo.
if i do lower it more (with different springs) and have 1 inch gap or no gap at all, will that still affect speed bump issues?

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
i dont get what ur complaining about tho.. its a speedbump.. do u think honda came to the conclusion that speed bumps do not exist? just becuz the car jumps doesnt mean somethings going to blow. dont go over them at like 10 mph u know? just roll over them smoothly or put ur brakes on when u go over them, that makes the impact feel way smooth, but i dont think its good for the brakes.. lowering ur car more shoudlnt have a super bad effect with speedbumps unless ur flying over them..just chill.
Re: shocks to make car even lower?
I'm lowered to the point where theres maybe a half finger gap, I'm dropped using the Tein SS-P coilovers. I've only run into major problems in one car garage to the point where I couldn't go into it... speed bumps aren't a problem as long as I go over them nice and slow, occasionally exhaust scrapes a little but nothing major.

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
koni's will lower your car .5'' to 1'' depending on where you put the spring clip.
if you lower your car to 1 finger all around, you will rub in the front when you go over the bumps. I use to have 1 finger all around with my tein basics, i would only rub in the front.

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
on one finger, i would scrape daily, speed bumps, car wash, slope driveway didnt matter. now with 2 fingers, i never scrape. id rather have that then the better looking drop that kills my car every day.

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
depends on your tire size too. When i had 205/40/17 i had a 1.5 finger all around but my cat would scrape on bumps. I switched to 215/45/17 and i never scraped but i had 1 finger all around since the side walls were thicker, it made my car stand a little higher too.
Re: shocks to make car even lower?
Get Progress springs. 1.8 front and 2 inches in the rear. You will need Koni Yellows for this setup. Or get coils from someone on the site and do your adjusting as you feel necessary.

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
now that u mention the tociko blues, nowi remember the back of his car has blue shocks or struts it looks (im not sure) so probably thats why? His front looks like my front. My car is a little higher in the front but i want it to be even, the girl at the shop told me thats how front wheel drives are.
i got it installed at a pro JDM ricer mechanic shop so i trust those pros a lot.
i have a 2 finger gap all aruond, but my fingers are small because im a small asian... and only the tips fit, cant squeeze the whole finger in. Your guys fingers are probably bigger than mine. the back factory wise is just higher than the front so these springs didnt really do much, maybe .1 of an inch lower in the back. I want it even, but of course the back would have to have a 1 finger drop.

i want to slam it but im a daily freeway driver and our freeways suck, lots of potholes and irregularities. my *** hurts even with S techs springs.
but still.. i keep jamming my fingers between the gap and my friends think I'm getting off with the car. I'm happy with the front but the back... the back fender probably gives the allusion the car isnt that much lowered and i keep watching fast and furious seeing those slammed cars...
and the shop says if i go any lower im gonna need a camber kit. what i have now does not require camber kit.
thanks again for your replies

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
thats what im looking for too. 2 fingers i the front 1 in the back. But my car out of the factory the front leans down a bit. I asked my shop about ways to make the back lower and they said not to and leave it leaning in the front because its a front wheel drive, but i want it a bit more balanced out. I'm starting to change my mind again and want to do something to the back...but if i do lower it anymore im going to need a camber kit but im willing to spend that money... its a real eye sore to me...

Re: shocks to make car even lower?
i am willing to pay for the camber kit.
I'm sick of seeing the gap in the back. Why does it look higher than the front when they are both 2 finger gaps!
I want the cheapest method to lower the back. The front I'm very content with. It can't go any lower than half an inch because then that would be too low. Let me know. I'm going nuts!!
thanks
