Which spring/shock setup is the smoothest riding?
Is there a smooth-riding (as smooth or smoother than stock) aftermarket lowering spring/shock setup out there? I don't want to sacrifice the stock ride. The stock suspension already rides like a typical (under $20K) economy car, so I can't imagine how rough-riding Race or even Prokit springs would feel.
Why lower your car if you can't drive a 600 mile day comfortably?
Why get rims if you can't lower your car? (fender gap sucks)
Thanks in advance.

Aren't most coilovers rough riding? I remember a previous post w/replies with a pretty unanimous opinion that all coilover suspensions may lower the car well but ride rough as sh*t...
I have read posts that say that the Eiback Prokit's ride was "too hard" for their daily commute, and numerous "hard ride" comments on the Ground Control coilovers.
Looking for a smooth ride, and 1" lowering. No such thing?

I have Konis and ground control. It rides pretty smooth but I heard it will ride a lot smoother with springs and Konis. Just don't slam your car to the ground and it shouldn't ride too rough.
Concensus I have read is that Pro Kit with 1" drop and Koni Sport's can put the ride about as good or as stiff as you want.
Besides I am unaware of any Tokico's available yet for our cars.

I now have the ProKit and Konis on for about 3 weeks. I have them on an EX automatic. The ride at the lowest setting on the Konis is better than stock, cause you don't get that extra soft bounce. You can turn the shocks up till it's stiff as a wagon and really go around corners. I don't think you will find a better setup and the loweing is about an inch. Also it did not need shims or anything to line up.

/2 cents
my '01 coupe has sportlines and koni's, and 215/45/17 does NOT work. Of course the sportlines have a slightly lower drop, but I was rubbing the body tooooo much. I couldn't drive at all with heavy people or more than one passenger without grinding it.
i'm happy with 205/40/17's now, but it's more maintenance.

to answer the origional question, to get a soft ride that youre looking for and no wheel gap, youre pretty much lookin at gettin bags man. it wont be cheap, but it should ride like a caddy. as far as springs go, no matter what spring you get, it will be atleast a few lb/inch stiffer than stock to compensate for the reduced suspension travel. there is NO way to get around that, unless you cut your springs(not recommended), and even then you have the ride that you already seem to hate. all i can do is recommend the Tanabe DressUp Form springs. they lower it but provide a spring rate that is only slightly increased over stock. but get a good set of shocks and struts, or youll be bottoming out man. likei said, the only thing i see that may meet your expectations is bags....open the wallet.....
Koni adjustable shocks with either Neuspeed sports springs, Tein S-Tech springs, or Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Those will lower your car, not slammed, just enough to lower the fender gap & still pretty close to your factory ride right now. It won't be the same though, just slightly firmer. You probably won't really notice much.
