DC5R brembo brake conversion on EM2

Can this be done without a k series tranny? If so, what parts are needed to make this swap happen? I'm thinking of getting on the group buy on EPHatch.com.

Thanks

umm its brakes not wheels.

you can do it, but you’re probably going to need a custom bracket for the caliper and bigger rotors to fit the caliper. and new brake lines.

i think rob or boilermaker did a type-r caliper change, i know one of them did. they can give you a better idea of what maybe need to do this.

I did it with DC2R brakes. DC5R brakes require the entire DC5R suspension arms, and the R axles.

A K series transmission wouldn't work with a D series engine anyway.

you'd need custom axles since the dc5r tranny is on the other side ...

already did this on a friends car.. you can use either a TYPE R... RSX TYPE S.. or BASE RSX

the only thing is that you will need custom axles made.. what you will need is:
D17 axles and the K20 axles you took the 5-lug from...

1. tell the axle shop that you need the K20 axles to be the same length as the D17...

2. then have them take the modified K20 axles and put the inner cups from the D17 on...

so you basically will have a K20 axle modified in length to match that of the D17 with the outer cups from tha k20 and the inner cups of the D17..

uhh, how can you use type R, S or base rsx axles, since all of those axles are different?

Type R = longer than S, with a 36mm hub
base rsx = 32mm hub, same length as S

This is correct. You will need to get custom axles using Type-R hub side with D-series tranny side. Don't forget you are going to need the WHOLE conversion off the DC5R including front swaybar, LCA's, Rotor, Caliper, Knuckles, Axles, etc. You are also going to need EP3 rear brake lines and E-brake cables. Lastly you are going to need to buy a new set of rims with +55 offset or higher and with +55 you are going to need to cut/roll your rear fenders or they won't fit. So basiscally for rims you are limited to either TSX/ITR/Custom, the last two being $1.5k+tires. So overall, depending on the price of the "group buy," you are looking around $3-4k in parts/labor/etc.

well.. u have forgotten what i have posted in my previous message.. length wont matter REGARDLESS of which axle you use.. longer or shorter ur still gonna have to modify the length to be used with a 5-lug conversion...

also second of all.. (I FORGOT TO MENTION THIS which also answers ur HUB differences)

it all depends on where you get the 5-lug conversions from... if you get it from a type r you might as well get the type r axles along with it if you can work out a deal.. if not then use the type s... but if you get it from a base rsx then either use the base or si axles

well folks... hopefully soon, I will be a proud owner of a k20a motor inside my proud EM... this will eliminate, hopefully, any dseries issue

after the swap, i'll be broke for a bit, but this will definitely be my next project.

wait... with the rsx 5 lug, it sticks out more than the 4 lug hub we have?? cuz 55mm compared to 42mm offset is a big difference..... meaning the hub on a 5 lug will stick out 13mm more. hmmm i'm confused about that. i think i'll go to clubrsx and check out their wheel offsets. on and i also believe with the 5lug conversion you will also need rsx tie rods?

It isn't the RSX 5-lug, it's the Integra Type-R (DC5 in Japan). The conversion extends the offset of the USDM RSX 15mm which causes a higher offset needed to clear fenders. Yes you do need RSX tie rod ends as well, which I forgot to mention. My TSX rims +55 offset BARELY cleared the fender line while clearing the Brembo caliper in the front. Rim choice is extremely limited with the ITR setup.
