You mean steering wheel not returnig to center position?
I'd think strut bearings might be responcible for this.

If its not recentering, i'd be looking at the rack. It sounds like its out of adjustment in some way and the pinion isn't coming all the way back to center. Either its jumping a tooth on the rack if/when it hits the lock, or there's too much slack in the yoke adjustment.

Do you have a very floating feeling on center?

Also check the tie rod end connections to the strut and the tie rods, as well as the lock collars on the struts. If anything is loose, your wheels may not always point where the steering wheel is.

Curious, did you get an alignment after installing the coilovers?

I got this noise just this last weekend. I'd been driving on a super-bumpy highway and the vibration worked my front driver's perch locks loose - the lowest one that sets the height. Once I tightened it then tapped the wrench with a hammer to really tighten it up, no more noise. I had a similar problem with my Hayames way the fuqq back. Can't say anything about ths steering though, mine feels OK to me.
