Springs without shocks?

My plan for this summer was to get rims but thats on the back burner for now and what i want is a drop on my car. i can afford srpings, but not shocks. is it worth it? cuz i heard aftermarket springs without shocks wears out ur stock shocks a lot quicker, so im thinking when that happens, then ill get aftermarket struts. ur opinions?

edit - lemme add, what is a good amount for drop? keeping in mind i wanna leave room for 17inch rims eventually

thats what i'm doing. i've been on sportlines for almost a year and my stock shocks still havn't blown. i'm just gonna wait until my shocks go out, then i'm planning on replacing the stock shocks with tokicos... as far as rims go, i'll be recieving some FF7s this week.

Springs w/out shocks

If you do your own work, get the springs now and do the shocks later. I lowered my car by 1.5" and am using the stock shocks. The car feels great and looks way better. I did it myself using Mex's DIY on spring install. It was easy to follow. BTW, the car will settle a little lower than what the manufacturer says. Mine said 1.25" and ended up at 1.5." If you go lower than 2" the handling will likely be worse and potential problems greater. Especially on stock shocks.

THey may not have officially "blown" yet but they have gotten weaker. THing is you dont notice it because its a slow degridation of the damper, so you get use to it as it gets worse and worse. I know, It happend to me. Ran Eibach sport lines on the OEM dampers, thought every thing was fine. When I finally swapped in Konis, I found that 3 of the oem dampers were completely gone (no compression) and the last was laughably weak. and there was no Oil coming out of them to indicate they were blown.

But any ways, All of you should be saving for a decent set of dampers, simply because dampers influence more of your cars overall performance then springs do. So even though the car may "feel" great now, imagine how much better the car will ride and handle with a nice set of performance dampers...
