2001 Civic - Problem with Front Struts (TSB needed)

Hey guys, i need your help. I have a 2001 honda civic lx coupe and the front struts are bown out at 45K miles. I have been searching the forums and it seems that this is a known problem and apparently there is also TSB for this problem where honda will replace the struts for free. Well, i have found all the tsb's except that particular one. Honda corporate customer service told me that there is no such tsb, however, people on the forum have mentioned this extensively. However, i have not been able to locate the tsb at all: not here in the forums or on the internet in general. I have been to 3 dealerships and the all have given me the boot. I need that tsb to make my point at the dealerships...please if you have the tsb or have the link for it, plz give it to me. I need your help, plz!!!!! Thnx in advance!!

I hear ya...

Sorry, I do not have a TSB for you.

Do not mean to hijack your thread either.

Yes this has happened to alot of people here.
I have re-searched it.

Same thing happened at 55,000 mi to me.
I have an 02 LX Coupe. This car is babied.
Dealers want $1000 for front struts that should last until 120,000 mi., at least.
Honda Canada and local dealers (Vancouver Honda/Richmond Honda) won't do a thing except be understanding saying "It is not common but does happen occasionally and since it is past the warrantee...too bad".

I do not think there is a TSB for 02 struts...I will push in Honda's face if I get a 01 or 02 TSB for this issue.

I needed to rant....I will get some aftermarket struts eventually.

Good Luck in your quest.

Well, I beleive there was a warrenty for 3 years or 45,000 miles.

Did you pay for an extended warrenty?

Also there was a known issue that some cars had that issue and would be fix under warrenty. But there was no recall.

I say just upgrade the suspension to Tokico HP's (AKA: Tokico blues)

Here is a place that might have the TSB: http://www.alldata.com/TSB/0124_mo.html

guys i really need this tsb. i want to resolve this dispute with the dealerhips. I keep reading on these forums that there really is a tsb for the 01 struts where honda extended the warranty to $60K miles in good faith. Please, if someone could help me out here that'll be great!

Alldata.com is a great site but is of no help if i have to pay to get a tsb. plus i don't c a tsb listed for this issue. HELP, plz!!

I had the rear drive side replaced a year 1/2 ago. But I was never given the bulletin.

plus the alldata.com use to have those bulletins in pdf form for free to the public, But they put a notice stating that Honda forced legal action if they didn't remove them.

Honda pulled all the TSBs. The likelihood of you finding it is getting lucky and someone has it saved to their hard drive. Its unlikely that 5 years later, regardless of milage that they'll cover this. You're probably screwed. Not to be an ***, but thats what they're going to tell you. I wasn't ever aware of a warranty extension on them, it was a "Dealer good faith" replacement, but this was several years ago now. More than likely by now, its "up yours, pay up" In which case, buy Tokicos.
