2004 Civic VP
2004 Civic VP
I am buying a used Civic tonight, 2004 5-speed value package. Honda web site says VP and HX do not have front or rear sway bars. Is this so? Does anyone know if these base models have front LCA that have holes for the bar links? I have read FAQ (thanks) and am quite aware of what I want in the suspension... I don't want lowered springs but I do want sway bars. BTW, great forum!

you have to weld on endlink connectors for the front or get EX front LCAs. The rear is the same thing. You can weld them on or get EX LCAs. There is a DIY for rear sway bar and endlink brackets.

Front, I am not sure if you have to drill but I am assuming you will.

i have an 04 vp, no sway bars, for the front there is holes drilled and everything, just buy a bar and bolt it in. with the rear, the easy way (without fabbing your own stuff) is to get the progress rear sway hardware, and a rear sway of your choice.
i have an 04 vp 5spd and mine handled like ****. i just lowered it and got 17 inch rims with falken tires and now it handles pretty good but i still need upper strut tower bars and sway bars for front and rear

ok, bought the car. It is black.
It has 18k miles and one very tiny door ding pass side. Paid $11.8k. I am naming it the TRAITOR DX. If you knew which American car company that I design cars for you would understand... Oh the guilt! NO BLASTED TACH - that bites. 04/5spd/Civic, where did you buy yours? Mandangalo, you put the progress bar on? It works? I will order on (ebay)... Lots of cheap tie bars on ebay... are these ok? THANKS ALL

THANKS ALLoh, and btw, theres a bunch of vendors on this site that i got parts from, they are probably your best bet as far as customer service and satisfaction goes.
also, i paid 11.7k for my car, brand new with 5 miles on the odo. thats before taxes and stuff though.
if you want a tach, a good idea is to get an 01-02 lx/ex gauge cluster, they can be found on ebay, and they plug right in.
Hummm, looks like I over paid for my civic, or your cars are still worth what you paid for them... The extent of my research on price was to check Kelly Blue book. It said that an '04 Civic VP with 18k miles should fetch $12.2 - and that's what the guy was asking for it. I got him down $400. Dang, I coulda had a new one...

It is just bad karma - I work for one of the Big 3 (hangs head in shame) it is only fitting that I paid too much.
but...
Got 40mpg @ almost 80mph on I94 this morning. I like it.
