Problems with dropped Civics?
Hey all - I searched for this already and couldn't find anything in specific, but I lowered my '05 Coupe a few months ago with the Eibach Prokit and SPC Camber kit in the rear, and all I have had since are problems!! The first week everything was in, there were no noises, eveyrthing was perfect. But after the first month, and for the past few months, I've constantly been hearing knocking noises when I go over bumps, metal-against-metal scraping, etc - the list of annoyances goes on.
I've take out the struts and springs since them, and reassembled it again, and that will solve the problem for just a few days - but soon after again all the noises start up. Nothing looks warn, the boots, the bearings - EVERYTHING looks fine. Its getting to the point that I'm tempted to put it back to stock just so it'll solve the problem
My question is, how many people with lowered 7thgens that also have these annoying noises???

is the hardware on the stock strut wrecked / blown? it sounds like the stockers are broke and the internals are rapping against eachother once it settles. ive switched to coilovers and now my problems are with scraping, lol. once you mess with something, be prepared for consequences no matter what it is.

No, I'm pretty sure eveything looks fine - it looks exactly the same as when I put them in. Mostly I've been getting a loud knocking noise when going over bumps, turning the wheels, or just driving straight. It sounds like the CV boots are ripped, but they're not.

Sounds to me like you're just weren't expecting using the stock struts to give you a problem. Sure they will be noisy. No way around it, other then getting aftermarket shocks.

That's true. I mean I was expecting this to happen eventually .. I just didn't know that it would start happening a month after I put new springs in. Is it typical for the stock struts and shocks to make noises with just lowering springs in?

OH SNAP! Those arrows need to be lined up? I never knew that... Never had a problem either. When I do my tie rod end this weekend I'll check on that, it may be difficult, cause I don't have stock struts.

yeah i know about indexing .. before i put my own springs in, i read the DIY on here and also saw that and specifically looked for that when I put the strut assembly back together ... we'll see i guess. Thanks for all your help so far guys.
same problem
Yea i just installed eibach pro kit last weekend except it started to rain and I only had time to complete both the front installs. Everything was cool right away but a couple of days after i notice the same knocking from the front drivers side. I've check everything and it all looks in place. Thursday night i drove down to the Dolphins game (i know they suck this season) and on the way back the knocking was coming to a climax. Now whenever im not steadily accelerating or braking the knocking is atrocious. Everything looks to be in place and I too followed Mex's installation and lined up the indexing. I will see if there is anything i can do to alleviate this once it freaking stops raining! I have not been driving my car since thats how bad the knocking is.

My car had knocking noises as soon as it was lowered the very first time. The guys at the shop did their best to fix it, in fact they removed the suspension 3 times that day to get it all indexed properly and triple-check all the nuts and bolts. The noises subsided to a tolerable level in about a week. I was pretty much resigned to having a noisy suspension, as Blahman put it you will always sacrifice something when modifying. The noises were still there, especially over bumps and low-speed turns, and my friend and I finally figured out that it was just the springs popping. When I would hit a bump, the spring would compress and due to it being a COIL, the spring assembly turned a slight bit in its perch and then bind, then POP a split-second later as it released back to its original position.
I too have been having popping noises on my suspension as well ever since it got installed almost a year ago. I have Sportlines and Tokicos HPs and the problem seems to happen like you guys said, on any bumps or holes on the street. We check the suspension at the shop a couple of times to make sure everything was fine, well, they didn't find anything wrong...I just got used to the noise after a while...

i have an 04 coupe with progress lowering springs and stock shocks. we did it ourselves and when i turned the wheel at first it made knocking sounds in the front passenger setup. we took it all apart greased all the bearings and greased practically everything, and adjusted the spring a little. when we put it back together i havent had a single problem since. no knocking or anything. damn im good. lol jk

same problem here too at first. took the suspension apart several times, reindexed and everyting. then i noticed a ball bearing wedged behind the spindle. i ended up buying a new strut bearing..the bbs came out somewhere(? never found them all) then lubed everything up with white lithium grease...no probs since..and they've been on about 6 months now...

yeah im on progress springs with stock shocks (for now), and i hear a variety of different noises daily. Its quite annoying but im used to it. I hope new shocks will help, or i may even consider getting true coilovers.
