it took me and one other person 3 hour to install shocks, but I have a lot of experience. I would say around 4-5 hours.

Tips:
Loosen all bolts first, but DO NOT remove any of them until you have them all loose.

Do the rears first. YOu will have to make sure the top mount and the bottom mount line back up so put the top nut that holds the top mount down on, but don't tighten it. You will have to test it out a few times. (same goes for the front)

Be sure to index the front shocks. If you don't know what indexing is, then search for it.

Get a pitman puller. If you can't get a pitman puller then bang really hard on the shock arm until the tie rod comes loose. Don't bang the tie rod end out using a metal hammer. Use a rubber mallet or if you have to use a metal hammer, pull the nut down to the bottom so you don't warp the threads. Don't bang on it hard though.

My latest install (on my own car) took 3 hours flat with a couple peoples' moral support. My first attempt took me 5 hours or so, including standing there scratching my head on getting the tie rod ends out. If you can turn a wrench you've got half the knowledge you need. Good luck.

Put a side a whole day. Its easier that way. Make sure the store is open incase you need something and make sure you have a 2nd car to make the run.
Before you start, buy extra crashbolts and extra nuts. You never know and the dealer parts department is always closed when you need it. You can always return unopened parts.

JCiv03 is on a distinguished road
It took me about 5 hours to install Tein full coilovers by myself. this includes taking off the tires, adjusting height, and cleanup.

Luckily you're doing this w/ a friend. It'll be MUCH easier w/ two people.

Also, Robbclark's advice is very useful. Get a pitman arm puller. (you can probably borrow one from an auto store.)
