Function7 Control Arms
Hey all, I was thinking of going with the Function7 control arms.

As far as I can tell the only companies that make them are Function7 and SPC, but I heard that the SPC ones rust quickly.
What do you guys think??
Thanks

Why do you want them? They don't do anything performance wise, but are generally just show pieces. I haven't heard anything bad about them, but I don't know many people that have them.

^^ do you compete with your car? autocross? open track? or what not? if you dont, then you'll never notce the difference performance wise between stock and these. I'd be hard to tell the difference even if you were competing... were talking hundreds to thousands of a second difference, and this is if you are consistant enough.
so do they reduce unsprung weight? yup. will you notice any real performanc difference? Nope, not unless your on a timed run, and even then its unlikely. They do look nice though.

I have a set of the Function7 rear lower control arms myself. They are so so nice looking. Light too. Lighter than the SPCs. The SPCs won't rust though, they're aluminum. You may have asked someone and they may have been thinking of the upper control arms. Those do rust, yep.
Anyway, to take off the bolts back there you'll need a special socket. That socket is very hard to come by. I e-mailed SPC about it since they supply it with their rear lower control arms. Here's what they said:

Michal,
Socket #69330 may be purchased from Mohawk Rubber Sales @ ph #781-741-6000
or Myers Tire Supply @ ph #781-961-4464. If I can be of any further
assistance please let me know.
Regards,
Terry Johnson
I haven't installed the Function7s yet myself. I need to call these guys for that socket. I haven't done that either. If someone does, then let me know how it goes...
