So this seems to be the setup I am leaning towards (KYB AGX with Eibach Prokit). My 01 EX Coupe will be a daily driver with the hopeful possibility of some AutoX in the future. So a couple of questions:

1. What are your thoughts of the setup? I like the idea of the adjustable shocks/struts and the minor drop. Any comments or issues with the two compatibility wise?

2. Where can I find the KYB AGX shocks/struts? None of the site sponsers seem to carry them (nor SLP). Any recommended sites?

3. Since I won't be able to try AutoX for about another year, that will give me time to get used to the combo. Will this setup give me a good base to start AutoX, or should I try something else?

4. Would the Sportlines be more advantageous with the future AutoX or should I still just start with the Prokit?

BTW I plan on getting a SPC camber kit too.

Most of you guys have done this before and I respect your knowledge from experience. Any comments or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I have this exact setup on my 01 EX. I couldn't be happier. Mine is also a daily driver and occasional autocrosser. It's pretty much perfect - I don't drive around worry about scraping stuff, but it is a huge improvement in stability at speed. I'm running mine with no camber kit, just because I wanted the negative camber in the rear. The fronts line up fine without a camber kit. I wouldn't worry about the Sportline to Prokit difference for auto-x. Tires are far more important than an extra inch of drop, that should really be your first stop if you're looking to improve your times.

I got my AGX's from Jegs, Summit also carries them. Really hard to beat their prices. I'm running H&R springs and very happy with them. Eibachs tend to settle very quickly giving you a lower than advertised ride height after 1-2 years. All springs settle over time, but they seem to be worse than others. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm kind of surprised I didn't get a ton of responses recommending the Konis over the KYBs. And not one response from the diehard AutoXers stating that seat time is more important than mods...tsk tsk. It was a holiday weekend so...

And which is the best install, shocks before springs or springs before shocks, if not all at once?

Did you have to modify the OEM housings for the fronts with those KYB AGX shocks?

No, the KYBs are complete replacement units unlike the Konis. You do have to use the old top plate and bearing from the old struts.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeetttt...thanks I might go with the same set up you have on my 05 coupe...Would like the sportlines cuz I'm into that slammed look, but I might go with the prokits and keep the factory 15's, I really like those...

Great set-up IMO! I've been really happy with mine, had to change on bearing plate that developed some noise after the struts were replaced....yes, they were lined up correctly.

Would you recommend to replace the bearing plate while installing or just wait to see if noises occur? There is nothing worse than taking something apart to fix something that could/should have been done anyway!

I don't know. For about $50 a side, it might be worth doing it, especially if the car has higher miles on it.

I finally ordered the KYB AGX. This may be a stupid question, but how visible are the shocks/struts through the wheels? The reaon I ask is because my calipers and drums are painted orange (Go Gators!) and I'm thinking the red behind the orange may stand out (yeah, more than orange huh?).

I saw the picture of the front wheel in Nitroal's gallery and can see the red behind the rotor.


Is the back more visible since the drums are smaller than the rotors? Can you even see the red or am I overthinking this?

Also, since I'm ordering parts, should I get more than the front bearing and top mounts. Bonnie just turned 74,000 miles so I thought I'd replace them before rather than have to take everything apart later. Anything else I should get?
