Aftermarket Front Lower Control Arms

Can someone please advise me? I had 4 tires replaced on my '98 Honda CIVIC EX yesterday. The front tires were very badly worn. The garage asked me if I hit anything or went over any major bumps, since the suspension was low and therefore they could not do a proper alignment on the car, since it has no camber adjustment. They told me I will need to buy an aftermarket part: Front lower control arms that are angled so that the camber can be changed.

It seems strange to me that the car can't be fixed using standard parts. If this is the best fix does anyone know where to purchase these at a good price? Their supplier quoted $200 each for them. I can't afford to buy them at that price.

If someone knows of a better solution please advise.

Are you lowered or are you stock height?

That is what you need and you can contact some of the sellers on here for price quotes. SPC makes good produts.

If there is nothgin wrong with your control arms, then perhaps all you need is a camber kit. Look here: http://www.autocarparts.com/part/932/91

Aftermarket Control Arms

Thanks I will look into these options.

It still strikes me as odd that you can't replace factory parts to get the correct alignment and that you need to get aftermarket parts.

Any thoughts on this

if your suspension is lowered, then it makes since that you cannot correct the alignment back to factory spec, since well they are for factory suspensions.
also if your factory front LCA is not bent, u don't have to replace them since they are expensive. just try to get yourself a set of camber kits which cost around $150.

Yeah, alot of car companies dont include a way to adjust camber for cost cutting measures. So they leave it up the owner to buy a kit or neccesary parts to correct alignment issues.

the camber kit is the upper control arms. not the lower control arms. the lower one is the one that has the holes and **** for the EX front swaybar.

Got your message. If you are standard height and one of your control arms is bent, they may not be able to align the car. Generally, if you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you can install the parts yourself. You can also try to get the parts from a junk yard or off ebay. Just make sure you know what piece you need.
