I know it's been beaten to death, but... (strut bar question)

Hi,

Does it make much of a difference if I were to get a replica strut bar instead of the original?

My thinking is this: since really, a strut bar is just a piece of metal that connects the strut towers, anything really should work for my purpose (just looking for a bit more steering control, not racing... no track, nothing)... as long as it's not an adjustable strut bar, it's ok, no?

A friend (and he's very involved with modding his car and very knowledgeable) told me that a replica is really just a waste of money, and I should instead get the real thing... but the real thing seems to be quite a bit more expensive... and I know modding ain't cheap, but if it makes little or no difference, then big brand name doesn't matter much to me...

What's your view? For the sake of argument, mugen, or mugen-look-alike?

what kind of strut bar? if front upper, neuspeed makes a great upper front strut bar thats in the $100+ range. a mugen bar isnt really neccesary for your sake since your not into road course or racing. as for those ebay ones, their just scraps of metal put together, so pretty much, your paying for quality, satisfaction, and gaurantee.

i wouldnt cheap out on the front upper strut bars, there effective compared to tie bars and low tie bars. i understand of cheaping out on rear upper strut bars or lower tie bars, but the front upper strut is a piece i wouldnt cheap out on simply because it plays a larger role.

goodluck

(ps, check out the parts reviews)

Hi, thanks for the response!

I'm actually looking for a upper front strut bar for 95 Integra... I have the neuspeed upper front for my car (2002 Civic hatch) and I love it, but I'm wondering if there are lower-priced alternatives.

Specifically, I was looking at the Type-R or comptech (not the titanium one) bars... and the replicas seem pretty good in the pics... material difference??
