Does anyone have the Tein EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller) on their civic ????? And what do you think about it, and probably some pics would be sweet too.

I'm 99% sure it wont fit under the hood... Not enough clearance. Sorry.
(EDFC is a gimmic any way, a marketing tool to get you to waste an extra $300)

But, I think it's a gimmick too. How often are you going to be driving down the road that you need to adjust the dampening? For a daily driver, you're going to find the setting you want on the dampers, and leave it. Then, you'll change it for AutoX/track days to something else.
I could see you *maybe* needing EDFC if you were going to use your Civic as a rally car, as the road conditions change very quickly. I wouldn't waste the money.

^^ What they say. EDFC requires hood modification owing to clearance issues. Don't quote me on this, but I -think- I've seen a custom fitment on a 2K1+ Civic before.
I don't think EDFC is necessarily too gimmicky, its like a bit of a luxury item, I mean, breaking out the wrenches or having to pop the hood is more of a pain in the a$s then just pushing a button.
I mean, think about it, you've got some sexy lady w. you in the car and things are getting a wee bit freaky and you want to adjust the damping so the car isn't a rockin' and nobody comes a knockin', do you go out of the car, pop the hood, fiddle around and come back into the car greasy hands and all, or do you be suave and just push a button a few times. I don't know about elsewhere, but here the 10W30-covered foreplay doesn't go down so well...

So after removing everything and installing the coilovers I thought, "Man I don't want to have to do this every time I want to make adjustments". For this situation it would be nice to have the EDFC. Just my opinion

But honestly how, how often are you planning on changing the dampening on your EK?

i would think it requires cutting, becuase on my D2 coilovers, the adjustment sticks they come with do not fit on the strut with the hood closed. So i have to take the sticks out and keep them in the glove compartment.

Tein now makes the Super Street coilovers (SS) with the pillowball uppermount that you can put EDFC on. The regular SS didn't have enough hood clearance for the EDFC motor, but with the SS w/pillowball uppermount they exposed more of the shock to make the EDFC motor fit lower clearing the hood. These are for the EM chassis not the hatch. They probably have a better one for the hatch though.

I thought the EDFC only worked with the FLEX systems???
I e-mailed Tein and asked them specifically about their new SS with upper pillow mounts and the ability to have EDFC. He said it would work. Here is a quote from his response to my e-mail:
You are very welcome. You are correct the Type SS-P will be a direct bolt on with the EDFC without any clearance issues. When we design the uppermounts we can recess the uppermount to expose more of the piston shaft giving you more than enough room for the motor. Our website will have the part number and price when it is released. If you have any other questions feel free to contact us.
