Putting car up on stands?

I was just wondering if it is worth putting my car up on 4 jack stands when I store my car for 4 months. The manual suggests it and since its not that big of a hastle is it benefical to me? Im guessing that im just taking the weight/stress off of my suspension. Thx for Comments and Suggestions!
