Prob with springs
Prob with springs
I've had eibach 1.5 inch springs on my civic for about 4 months and the other day i went to get my car aligned and the guy said he couldnt re-align the back end because i needed different tie end rods. He said that my tires are not wearing properly and he cant get in to re align them unless i get new rods which are 90 a piece. Anyone else have this problem?
I donno im not to familiar with suspensions but why would i need anything else i mean i just lowered the car 1.5 inches its not huge or anything. Why wouldnt he be able to align it? I'm gonna go pack to the place 2morrow and il find out more about it.

tie rods?!?! wtf..haha...maybe he meant camber kit from what it sounds like a camber kit makes your wheels go from this ---> / \ to this -----> | |
rear camber kit my friend.
ingalls & spc make rear camber kits for our cars and their good products. i have spc rear camber kit and works perfectly fine with no problems. they cost from $100-$130 for an spc REAR only camber kit.
if your car is lowered and keep getting alignments, it wont straighten out your rear wheels so it sits perfectly straight ^view modify's graph for details^. negative camber WILL cause tire wear which is your tire will wear faster and eat up quicker in a result of purchase of new tires. so think about investing into a $100+ rear camber kit instead of wasting money on alignments and/or tires.
as for front, its unecessary and not really required/recommend.
any questions? commments? just reply back here

if you don't know anything about suspension, then why did you lower you car? You are setting yourself up for disaster. Read the FAQ. It is very informative.

1.5" drop won't wear the tires (front OR rear) very significantly at all unless you're peeling out at every stop light. I don't see a camber kit as necessary until at least 2".
I'm dropped 2" and still see no need for a camber kit. Partly cause I have to have some -ve camber to tuck my rims soon, ha ha.

Get the kit, I used to have the pro kit with no camber kit and it wore out all my tires on the insides till it was down to some metal stuff which really wasn't safe... get the kit it'll save you on new tires in the long run....

toe will mess up your tires a lot more than camber. the worst you can get with camber is uneven wear. major toe out or toe in will shred your tires.
I might be a dumbass for asking this question but what is toe??? I have some Skunk2 springs that are sitting in my garage and i'm waiting to put them on until i get a camber kit... but all this talk about toe... i have no idea what it is???
