Whats a good JDM strut bar and rear tie bar?
Whats a good JDM strut bar and rear tie bar?
im on the lookout for a set..
i thinking of getting tanabes but im afraid the front strut bar wouldnt fit in my civic.
heres a link of the different strut bars for our civics..
http://www.optauto.com/index.htm?par...30&deptid=1493
the tanabe wouldnt fit in my car since mine has a manual tranny and already has an aftermarket intake..
im thinking of dc's but from what i heard theyre kinda crappy
heres the link for the tie bars
http://www.optauto.com/index.htm?par...78&deptid=1524
i want the strut and tie bars to be the same brand as much as possible.
im prefering tanabes coz i have a tanabe nf210 springs installed. want it an all tanabe suspension as much as possible
any suggestions guys?
also.. which of the 2 is better?

what's ur budget? that's the most important question you have to ask yourself...
first off, none of that stuff is "jdm" except for tanabe...which won't even fit your car...
the only thing you can get from tanabe would be the rear strut bar (rsx), and the front lower tie bar (sustec x-brace), i dunno if they have a rear lower tie bar, i don't think they do...
if you want everything all one brand...i'd go with neuspeed, just because they make everything for our car even if you have an intake....
dc is good too, but they don't make a front tie bar...
neuspeed is also good because they make sway bars for our cars...front and rear i believe
personally, if you are limited on money, go with neuspeed (which most of the 7thgen vendors carry, so you'll get a discount) for upper front strut, upper rear strut, front lower x-brace...and go with progress sway bars front and back with lower tie bar combo
as for the camber kit..go with progress because i heard that the camber kits for our cars aren't any good...like the one's that eibach carries, which is only a screw, when you go over a pothole or anything hard, the alignment will change since the teeth on the screws strip or jump places...

neuspeed is way over priced. Progress is the best bang for your buck. You can also get a DC5R 22mm rear bar and a generic tie. But Progress is the best set of sway bars and the rear has an integrated tie bar. Tie bars aren't a huge deal. ANything generic will do as long as it braces the chassis. DC sports is a rip off when it comes to tie bars.
Most people like SPC camber kits. All of our front camber kits are a just a screw that can, unfortunately, come loose. There is no way around that unless you tighten it down properly.

^i really don't think neuspeed is that overpriced, for the rigidness you get from neuspeed compaired to others, it's way ahead of them...
but yea, i completely agree with him^...if you want good yet cheap performance in the cornering, go with the dc5-r rear sway bar..you'll definitely notice a difference....

nindoo, shut up.
Progress bars are the same size and just as stiff and CHEAPER, over a $100 cheaper. If you want a list of parts then they are in the suspension FAQ. Eibach has a set too but they aren't as large. I think Hotchkis has a set, but they are going to be expensive. As far as I know cusco doesn't make a sway bar set, and even if they did, the DC5 front bar doesn't fit all civics. Cusco won't make anything for our civic specifically.

shiro: u still haven't told us what ur budget is...if we had a budget we'd know what would be ur money's worth
hey guys. gtracing and the rest, thanks for the inputs!
i have an open budget for this. so if dc sports has it all.. then dc it is.. im just on the lookout for more
ill go for the progress camber kit. thanks for the inputs on this peeps.
the problem is im all the way here from the philippines and we have very limited stuff here available for 7th gen civics. which is quite a bummer actually.
i have a friend whos going to the states and hes asking if we have orders.

this sound like a good combo

Neuspeed doesn't make a rear upper tie bar for our cars, and since the RSX one they make doesn't bolt on to the strut towers like the other guys', I can't say it will fit. Try Cusco, Spoon, or even a decent generic rear upper strut bar.

Your friend doesn't seem to know what parts are available. For front upper strut and front rear under tie, then I say neuspeed all the way. For sway bars, you can get just as good stuff for cheaper, but it is your money. I personally would go with Progress sways and cusco rear strut bar.

lol
Guys is JDM really JDM or is it an american influence? I remember old old hot rods being flat back and bare bones all about performance and old choppers with with a very clean look. Now you look at hot rods they are about show and go. Even choppers are all chromed out.

shiro: since neuspeed doesn't make a rear strut, go with a generic then, or if u wanna spend the money, go with cusco....other brands u can go with that is jdm are mugen, spoon, j's racing, uh...i think that's it...from japan anyways....well out of the three, go with j's racing....cheaper, and looks beefier than the rest

I know that.
I'm taking it to the next level. lol
I feel there is a lot of hype associated to word but for what? Americans were doing the clean look back in the day.
^i guess, i dunno, i know absolutely nothing about american hot rods except what i learn from boyd coddington on discovery....
and honestly, if edelbrock and mopar are really getting into the whole rice thing, they're way behind in technology....they're trying to make these products for civics etc, but still are using hotrods from the 70's ideas and trying to adapt it with the newer imports...
mopar is getting even worse, coming out with parts to rice up neons...a neon is a neon, never ment to go fast....i dun even know why they made the srt-4.....i've seen more pictures of srt-4's wrapped around poles than i have seen exotics....and honestly, chrysler should feel bad about creating the srt-4....such a cheap price, **** loads of horsepower, and u add a 16 year old kid with no driving experience = higher insurnace rates for us all...

Neon SRT-4 cheaply priced because its cheaply made. They didn't mod the car hardcore enough to handle the new engine.
Its like the new corrola XRS. It has the celica engine but it has a solid beam type rear suspension.

personally ima forget about everything i just read through this entire post...being it was 5 minutes of my life i wont get back....personally i had spoon strut tower bars on the front and back of my car with the tanabe underbrace and progress sway/tiebar....u can use any of the bars for the rsx they fit so if u see somehting for the dc5 it will fit ur car....some people say go buy an ebay bar its just metal....but the mounting brakets on the spoon and that j's racing bar up there are way beefier than the ebay bar resulting less chasis flex....and thats the whole point of getting these things to reduce it as much as possible....right now i need to get a new front one for my ep3 looking at the mr alex bar spoon or j's racing duno which yet all are good peices spoon bar on the other hand has a differnt mount than the j's and mr alex i would recomend them over spoon because theres are a better mounting braket imo im sure other people would agree with that also...check out the cusco rear upper very nice peice also and can be adapted to fit the coupe....if ur on a tight budget shop around and remember u do get what u pay for good luck with ur project
