Defending Hayame
Hi guys
I've been reading loads of bad rep Hayame coils seem to be getting and thought I'd just say my words.
I'm running a UK spec EK4 Civic VTI (B16A2) and have the Hayame V2 coilovers imported from the USA. I've been running the Hayames for over 3 months now and covered around 6-7000 miles (10,000km+) with them.
So far I have not experienced any problems, they have lowered the car right to the floor literally however I run them with about a 2" drop all round. I did have to tighten one coilover slightly before fitting, apart from that they were fine.
It looks like for some reason the 7th gen civics have problems with these coilovers because my 6th gen is perfectly fine, very stiff but very good on smooth roads!

Well, the supension is different. So your results with double wishbones are TOTALLY IRRELEVANT to the problems we're having with the struts.

I've read in other threads people asking how Hayame customers in general feel about their purchase. I have also read that people would like to know how other generation civic's have faired. I am constantly reading Hayame make poor quality products, I'm simply here to make a note of my results and feelings.
The Hayame struts are full aluminium so unlike the cheaper Teins they wont rust and will be lighter, the Hayames are well finished and machined and overall they look and feel like a quality product. In use, they have done nothing but shine for me.

Rep Power: 0 This wiggle effect, I guess you 7th gen guys get that becuase your struts are longer again thats something 6th gen doesn't get. I can't believe the difference in quality from one product to another from the same manufacturer, that isn't good at all.

Rep Power: 424 All double wishbone shocks do is go up and down. Struts also have to turn, and, with the entire steering system integrated into to the strut design like honda did so stupidly, getting it right is even more important. I haven't heard many complaints about about them going up and down. Every complaint has been regarding wiggles, funny popping noises in the bearings, etc... which you have no idea about because its not a concern to your car. Therefore, your comparsion to the quaility of your coilovers vs. the 7th gen ones is completely irrelavant.

Rep Power: 369 Hey EdLeake, I think I ran across your post (was it you?) on HondaTech talking about your Hayames. I was searching around for input on them with regards to the company's reputaion and general build quality, and if it WAS you posting that, then I'll credit you at least partially with my decision to buy them.
I'm not gonna post how I feel about my Hayames, I've said it waaaay too many times on here so I'm not going to join you in defending the coilovers in this thread. But I will say that to see such a large difference in customer satisfaction simply between generations is rather disturbing. I have heard good things about Hayames for the previous generation vics. It's just too bad that it seems this product and its revision seem to have been rushed out the door. It probably stems from the already-problematic suspension on the EM/ES chassis.

Tein SS costs more than twice as much as Hayame, and the Tein Basic costs $250 more or so. My TeinSS fits perfect, and there are absolutely ZERO problems with them.

Rep Power: 329 Oh. Well, they are made out of the same thing, the only difference is the damper adjusting assembly. I havent had any rusting issues on mine... 
I still think Tein is vastly better than Hayame, but whatever...not everyone can afford Teins

Rep Power: 369 Exactly. Nothing against my current setup but now that I think about it, if I'd saved a little more and foregone my HID's I could have gotten some D2's or Teins and saved myself the paranoia and stress, ha ha.

I know some complained about the rear not being low enough but eh other than that I dont think it really had any big issues.
