Need a new Strut

So my front right strut is leaking and Im thinking before winter (im in Canada so winters pretty hell out here) I should replace that strut, should I do anything else while the car is on the hoist? Would lowering springs screw over my winter driving? How about better shocks?

I just found the site and think its great. look forward to posting here, so nice to see Im not the only who has a 7th gen and goes on the net :P

well no I wouldnt think lowering springs would kill you for winter driving. With the shocks, It is really up to you. You can get a new OEM shock, or spend a few hundred $$ more and get some Tokicos. Or spend about $550 and get some konis. You only have 3 options, well you can get full coilovers, but as for the replacement shocks, only 3 choices. I say go with the tokicos since they are cheaper, and give you better ride quality.

it all depends on what you mean by all out. Lets say you wanted to get lowering springs and shocks. Well say eibach sportlines would run you about $200-$220 USD and the tokicos would run you about $350-$400 USD. now fullcoilovers, lets say tein basics would run you about $865 USD. It all dpends on what you want really. And BTW, my post above, those prices are also USD.

If you are looking for ride quality, get tokico, when you replace the shocks you need to pay for installation and alignment…and if you ever want to drop the car, you’ll have to pay for install and alignment again…so I would do everything at the same time and save $$$
