Hey guys, i just lowered my car using koni yellow struts and eibach ground controls and the coilovers are basically set to the lowest setting. I am getting a camber kit for it tomarrow and also aligned, but i am being told that my struts are gunna be **** if i keep it that low? i only thought that was for stock struts? Is there anyone running like 1.75 or 2 or even coilovers where its all the way down and are havin any problems. Thanks.

THe konis are built to work at any ride height. HOWEVER if you bottom them out you will destroy them. so, as long as you don't bottom out the shocks then you'll be fine.

Ya might blow them ^^^as stated above(then every bump you hit will feel like a brick wall) you should be fine for right now in time deffinitly they would need to be replaced, which camber kit you going with ?

this may sound dumb, but how do i know if im bottoming out the shocks or not?

in anyones opinion if i put the coilovers ALMOST all the way down then will i have problems and need to replace my struts?

and Mr Modify, im defining **** as the ride will be horrible and feel like crap and ill need to replace em.

I dont know what Camber kit im gettin, i think when i take my car to the my shop they are just gunna throw a kit on there.

The konis shouldn't blow so easily, or no one will buy those aftermarket springs which drop 2.0 inches or less. It will not make sense to design a spring that low anymore. As for the bottoming out, I have heard koni's can't take much of that... but if the spring rates are high enough, they shouldn't bottom out right? I got this feeling that large rims and low profile tires will destroy the shocks/ konis faster, as there is less absorption of the impact from the grounds by the tires. Therefore the shocks take all the beating. Can anyone clarify this ?

the simplest way is to attach a zip tie to the shock its self to measure how much suspension travel you are using...


Like such

adjust the zip tie so that it sits against the body of the shock, when you go drive the shock will move the zip tie to the highest compression point, and tell you if you need to raise the car up a bit or get stronger springs... (If the zip tie ends up at the top of the shaft then you are bottoming out the shock)

but i have a question, after placing the zip-tie, should i drive under the worse roads i know of or flat surfaces? go over speed bumps and dips too?

Its possible, but if hes hitting the bumpstops then he all ready needs raise the car up a bit or get higher spring rates...
