02 camber kit problems
02 camber kit problems
I'm on my 2nd camber kit ..SPCs. I replaced the Ingalls that I had when I first lowered my car because it squeaked! can you believe it? they weren't even polyurethane! I knew it was the camber arms cuz I put back the OE arms and the noise was gone. I got the SPCs on the advice of many here and I thought that its more robust design would work better ... well, 2-3 months or so later the squeaks have returned! They're not as bad as the ingalls, but whenever the chassis flexes (going over bumps, dips, sharp turns, in/out of driveways, etc.. and it is usually more noticeable after the car is warmed up and been driven. I'm about to go back and re-install my OE arms and had 2 questions for ya'll...
1. If I am lowered on eibach pro kit with konis with strut tie bars and such, do I really need a camber kit.?. I mean the pro kit is such a tiny drop.. if it even qualifies as a 'drop'. With my setup i was able to get the camber near factory with the OE camber arms...
2. If I do re-install the OE camber arms, could I leave the SPC front camber bolts? or should I put the OE front bolts back in as well??
Thanks for the assist..

Well using the camber kit depends on how your alignemnt is without it. Put your OE kit back on and take it in for an alignment, and if they can get everything within specs, then you will be fine. But if they cant, then a camber kit would be a good idea. I am lowered on sportlines, And I needed both front and rear kits. At first they couldnt get the front within specs, then the rear. Now my alignment is more perfect then ever. So it all depends on your alignment.
Now if you do put the OE kit back on the rear, yes you can leave the front SPC bolts in. It wouldnt make a difference. The bolts just help correct your camber.
As far as the noise, other people will have to answer that. I have the SPC kit and I have never heard any noise.

preload the bushings
pretty much your installing the camber kit wrong... you need to have the car on the ground before you tighten the camber kit. but then most people arent able to get underneath it so what i did was use a jack to jack up the drum and tightened it.

preload the bushing? How can you be so sure that is the problem? I had the work done but pros--is it a common mistake even for people who regularly work on cars?(and again to avoid any confusion, these are 'rubber' bushings NOT poly .. If that's all it will take, I'll def try it.. I'd rather have the corrective camber and the ability adjust it too...
