All D2 coilover owners please read

Today i just got my coilovers installed and i had a question about everyone one elses. The fronts on mine looks awesome - 2 finger gap and room to go!! But the back is at it's lowest point and it still a four finger gap. I know people had problems with height with the hayames...i just wanted to know if people had the same problems with the D2s. Thanks a lot.

215-40-17...yeah that is one thing that i thought of but i don't think that would cause that much of a gap. Is you rear on the lowest setting?

i have the rears at almost the lowest setting and i have like a 2 1/2 to 3 finger gap. it looks nice though. depending on what springs you got also, i got 10k in the rear and with the no weight over the they took a while to settle.

the rear was like 4 fingers or so. and yeah 3 fingers w/ coilovers sucks unless you actualy race and want the suspension travel.

exactly, i called urban today and he said it doesn't sound right. He is supposed to email D2 tonight to find out whats wrong now. Urban allready shipped me new correct front springs and now i'm going to have to wait for another set of springs to come...this group buy has been nothing but problems. Sorry for the rant. Thanks
By the way, does anyone know if you can get the same spring rate spring but with it just being shorter in length?

^I think so...

from a stock 4 finger to a dropped 3 fingers definitely doesnt sound right but what people dont understand a lot of times is when they're running some tiny tires such as 205/40/17 and complain about a 2 finger gap. I mean no sh*t your going to have a lot of gap, look at your tires... My friend is running something like 205/45/16 with neuspeed RACE and he still has like a 2-3 finger gap. With my 215/40/18 and neuspeed race, i only had .5

when my hayames were first installed, they had a near stock height in the back...but they lowered down to about a 2 finger gap after some driving around...so i dont know if you're all so excited for an immediate drop...but mine seemed to get lower after a while

I installed mine today finally. AND I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!

I got 6k Front springs, and 8k Rear springs. IS this the correct factory spring rates???

My front has about 2 finger gap but can be lowered much more. HOWEVER, the rear is lowered all the way and its still very high. like 1 inch below stock height.

I think its becuase the springs is too tall and too strong, it does not compress very much.

What gives?

btw, i have stock rims and tires.

Another issue i encountered is that the dampening adjustment sticks do not allowe the hood to be properly closed when inserted. I did use the shorter 2 of the 4 adjustment sticks that come with the set. Is it possible that my camber plate isn't in the correct position? Thus, making the middle adjustment area sit in the wrong place causing contact with the hood? The hood closes fine if i take the sticks out.

Hey VNlilMan, I went and looked at your initial review of the D2's (http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...ht=D2+coilover). I see that your rear shock and spring and top mount is put on.

I COULD NOT, move the lock nuts up easily with my 8k spring on and the top on securily. I actually had to use a spring compressor to compress the spring to get the top mount on. Does this sound right?

Could it possible be that I, got 8k springs that are tall? Versus 8K springs that are supposed to be shorter?

*edit, judging by your picture. Your front spring looks taller then your rears. Mines is TOTALLY the opposite. HOWEVER, my springs are clearly labeled. What GIVES?

Upon further inspection of VNlilMan's picture. His front springs look larger then the rear springs. Supposedly he has 6k front and 8k rear.

My springs were clearly labled (mis labeled or not I don't know). My 8K springs are taller then the 6K springs. Reguardless i put the 8k springs in the back and the shorter 6K springs in the front. And the result was that the rear, Even though lowered all the way, is 4 fingers high.

If it does not settle in a week, i am forced to beleive that the springs are on backwards. (front is in the rear and rear is in the front).

Reasons for this is either:
1. THe springs were incorrectly labeled. (Taller 8K springs were labeled 6, and Shorter 6k springs were labeled 8).
2. The factory Spring rates are NOT 6K up front and 8K rear, but rather 8K front and 6K rear.
3. There are two different length 8K springs. A short version and a tall version.

Anyone got any input?

i talked to him, he also said he will email D2 and ask whats up. I am pretty sure now that we are supposed to get 6K front and 8K rear. Now im just thinking that i got the "TALL VERSION" of an 8K spring? Since spring height supposedly doesnt have anything to do with its stiffness.

Hello,
I purchased a set of coilovers from your US distributor "URBAN IMPORT". I am having a problem with the rear not going low enough. The Rear locking nuts are spun all the way to the bottom, yet the rear still has about a 4 inch wheel gap. The spring rates i have are 6K FRONT and 8K REAR. Is this the correct spring rate to have? Generally for my application, is a 6K spring smaller then an 8K spring?

Please help me.
Thanks,
Michael Vo
seems to me like they are willing to send me new springs for FREE. i just either have to pay for express UPS shipping 91 dollars or get it sent on a boat for free which would take 60 days. EIther way is not fair to me. Some of us waited about 3 months just to get a complete working set with supposedly correct springs.

I emailed UrbanImport, hopefully they have a "short" version of an 8K spring set to send me.

i dont know what spring rates i got front and rear but from what i know, the front spring rates should be higher than the rear..

my front at the lowest setting, it is exactly what i want and just enough..
the back is at the lowest as well and i have 1 finger gap with 215/35/18 which is not low enough for me, so i cut the rear spring another 1 coil to get it lower

if your bonnet can't close properly, just take out the damper adjusting **** out

i was also thinking of cutting out a coil or two from the back but that is if i have to. As of right now i am not convinced i have the correct springs.

i beleive its generally understood that on FRONT Wheel Drive cars, the rear is stiffer then the front. It is the opposite for a REAR wheel drive car.

refere to my thread here. http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=170405

Hence, stock 7thgens using 6K front and 8K rear is reasonable.

i saw hayame's website http://www.hayameperformance.com/suspension.htm

and it says for the 7th gen civic, the front/rear is like 8kg/10kg while for integra and previous gen civic (i think they are FWD) it is 12kg/8kg

maybe right for the spring rates.. not really sure about this

THis is what I have found out so far.

Michael at Urban Import believes that the original springs that ccame with my set were actually the right springs. The box was just mislabeled.

He also has found out from D2 that they do make certain springs in different lenghts. It seems to me that I have a TALL 8K spring. He has to wait about 2 months for marine shipping from D2. He is going to try to work out a deal for me were I can pay less then 91 dollars (offered by D2 for UPS express shipping) and get them faster then 2 months.

Me paying ANYTHING is still a bit unfair. But it seems its the only way If i dont want to wait 2 more months.

*ANother important thing i learned from VNlilMan was to make sure the rear bushing install is correct. 1 Rubber bushing goes inside the rear top mount, the other goes outside of it. It would sit right below the washer and bolt.
