Questions about Suspention
ok my car understeers like a crazy biach and would like to mae it more neutral, already bought new wheels and tires, and Progress springs...
Wel heres the question, i what to add new sway bars, but dont know what to get, i mean if i just get the rear RSX one, that would esolve some of the understeer but the car would still "sway" woulnt it??
and i found some combo options at optauto.com here the Link, there the progress and H&R sway bar with one should i go for, or what other good choices are out, thee, i whant my car really neutral o with most of the understeer gone...
Also would a set of RSX coilvers (any brand) fit a Civic Coupe, and what do i nedd to make em fit??
thanks..

spell check: suspension
what exactly do u mean by understeer? while straight line driving? when making turns? taking turns at 40mph? what? (ask the autocross men about this one, i've never experienced 'understeer' i beleive)
rsx rear sway bar is a good choice but their are other options. again, i have no expierence with this nor any sway bar. have to ask the others about this one..
it SHOULD be possible to fit rsx springs onto a civic 7thgen. i read around the forum about how a member wanted the rsx hayames for his civic because it had better spring rates. i think there was a thread based on that? not sure, but gotta search for that one.
keep in mind, when your modding your car, what are you modding it for? street driving/autocross/drag/etc.

Why get RSX coilovers when Civic coilovers work just fine! Most coilovers you can get with custom spring rates. The RSX ones will need some modification. Get the EP3 ones if you are desperate.
Start with the RSX rear sway bar or the progress rear sway bar. What is the size of your stock front sway bar? If it is 16mm stick with the 19mm RSX bar. if it is 25.4mm get the progress 22mm rear sway. That will make the car more neutral feeling.

2002 coupe is still 25.4mm front. That is why you get a lot of understeer. I suggest trying the 22mm rear progress bar first.
go get your front end alligned with a little bit of toe out. That will completly eliminate your understeer. It will also eat your tires and make the car really twitchy on the freeway but the understeer will be gone. I have a RSX rear bar on my 02 ex and it makes a world of differance. that progress one should be even better. If you dont get the progress one be sure to instal a rear lower brace, acura does it that way for a reason.
here is waht I did to get my understeer under control,
installed RSX rear sway
Alligned car
Learned how to left foot brake
The problem is now gone
Bear in mind that sway is not your enemy. What is important is to control the distribution of traction in the car. A larger rear sway does this by exagerating the effective spring rate in the rear of the car. Too big will make for an end swaping monster. a little extra camber in the front will also do womders for that understeer. Toeing the front out will allow the wheels to follow a more natural path through the corner thus incresing traction. It works like this; the inside tire has to travel less distance then the outside tire because its turning circle is smaller. If you start with the wheels pointing apart just slightly, it puts them in a better position to do this. this is even more important in our cars because we have ruber bushings in our front struts. Under power these bushings deform and allow the strut and wheel to move forward in the car just slightly, the position of the steering arm on the strut counters this to a degree but it is not enough, a slight toe out while not moving equals zero toe under power and less understeer at turn in. The best part is that there are no parts to buy, you just need to get someone good to do the allignment, the dealer is not the place you want to have this done
