problems with hayame

problems with hayame i just installed my hayame coilovers and there is this weird clunk on my right side everytime i stern my steering well to the right but after a few minutes of steering back and forth form left to right it disappear but everytime i get in to my car that noise is there again. I had my friend if the hayame is hitting something while i turn the steering wheel he said nothing is hitting.
And one more thing im driving in the freeway when i reach the high speed it feels like my car is driffting left or right its kinda da scary especially driving at high speed and passing a vechile its seems like im going to hit them, thats why i always have both of my hands now on the steering wheel..
And can somebody tell me whats a good ride height and preload cuz i have 16" rims and i could never find the right setting so that ill stop bouncing around....

i think is either the preload is not enough, or the 3rd locknut thatz not tight enough.
try those first, and see what happen. Make sure the 3rd locknut is really tight.
if that doesn't do it, PM VNlilMAN. He should be able to help you out.

here's how i fixed mine...
1. Tighten your preload, and make sure you can't grab the springs and move them with your hands....when i had this problem, I could physically grip the springs and wedge them up and down, there was a lot of gap. After you adjust the preload, TIGHTEN, and i do mean TIGHTEN those 2 lock nuts, to secure the spring in place so when u drive, it doesn't unscrew.
2. tighten the 3rd lock nut also, VERY TIGHTLY
3. tighten all nuts and bolts that's used to mount the coilovers (mainly the 2 big ones above the brake rotor area.
4. GET A FRIGGIN ALIGNMENT, if you're drifting like i was, you SERIOUSLY need an alignment
One of those steps fixed the noise, i just dunno which one, i did the alignment first, and then did steps 1-3 b/c the alignment just fixed the slant in my steering wheel, and not the popping sound.
oh, last thing, if you have progress sway bars, or any sort of upgraded sway bars, TIGHTEN the hell outa the endlinks. Just don't strip them. I'm a relatively weak guy, so i just tightened as much as i could with my hands, which i don't think is much...lol...
i still get the clunking sound every now and then, but its pretty much gone. once youre hayame springs settle in, you'll be fine

Rep Power: 0 what do you guys recommend on the preload should i stiffen the front more than the back or vice vesas... and how much gap should my height between tire and wheel well

Rep Power: 416 the popping is most likely due to the 3rd locknut not being tight enough. you might think its tight enough but chances are its not...
as for the drifting.. yes its most likely because of alignment. main reason why i suggest you get an alignment when you touch your suspension especially when you change struts.
the preload... the front i barely had any. the rear i had a lot
the gap, you can make it as low as you want. with the hayames i had no gap all around. right now with d2s i'm slightly tuckin all around.

Rep Power: 0 If you want to get rid of the clunking noise, try greasin up your spring coils, where they touch one another when the spring is compressed. I had that noise from my springs, and after applying some grease, all clunking sounds have gone away.
VNlilMAN how much pre-load did you have on your rear hayame? I have about .5 - .6" preload, lower all the way and still have 2.5 fingers gap left. Supposely I had the right rear springs 530.2.50.010. Did they ever find out the correct rear springs #?

Rep Power: 0 I have the same problem with mine. In a way I'm glad to hear that others are having the same issue. I'm going to add some more preload and tighten the hell out of the lock-nuts. Hopefully that will solve the issue.

I am very new into this so help me out. After I read all the issues I just went to buy one set for 650 shipped. Hope I made the right decision to go for hayame.
What does it mean when you guys said add some more preload.
I am going to ask my friend to help installing this but I need to know everything ahead of time so I won't freak out later.

I am curious as well. Tried to ask few members who had a lot of pre-load on the rear and still able to slam (but their mailbox are full)
Slam let us know if it is just the spring? It could be something else. If I only have a little pre-load(like .1 inch) I can have 1 finger gap.

Rep Power: 416 well it also depends on what tire size your using.. if your running 205-40-17 of course your going to have some gap..
my friend is running 215-45-16s and he has a 2-3 finger gap even with neuspeed race

Right now I have stock wheels on(185-70-14) and I have 2.5 fingers gap with about .5 inch of pre-load(this setting is a must w/o bouncing all over). I am wondering how much pre-load you had at the rear to have almost no gap. Hopefully it will just settle after a few week.

I'm done with Hayame coilovers. I'm assuming the information UrbanImport received about the next shipment was false. It's just about to be the middle of this month. He has had no updates since the middle of April.
