Rsx-s rear sway bar or Rsx-R rear sway?
Which one is better to get
, all I have otherwise is a upper strut bar. Is ther an advantage to having the 22mm bar as oppose to the 19mm bar. Will I suffer from major oversteer by having the 22mm one without having a front tie bar?
thanks

1. what year civic do you have?
2. the tie bar has very little to do with understeer/oversteer
also what do you intend to do with your car? Street driven, Road course? autocross? Canyon running? what? they all use different tuning.

For autocross, run the 22mm bar... For the street 19.
You probably should get some type of rear lower tie bar to reinforce the lower control arm mounts if you go with the 22mm bar.
In theory you should be initally tuning the handling balance with spring rates, then using different antiroll bars to fine tune that handling. But theory rarely happens in the real world.

One thing to note:
RSX-S 19mm rear sway bar: you can use the OEM Endlinks
RSX-R 22mm rear sway bar: you will need Grey's Endlinks (The OEM tend to snap)
Ask TeLLy, he has experienced this

I'm not unaware of the fact that the bigger OEM bars have indeed broken the stock endlinks, so i would have to think of it as more of an option than a necessity.

well first off.. there is absolutly no difference between the base rsx bar vs the type s bar.. they are all 19mm, the dc5-r bars are 22mm
the 19mm will be fine for street, but i would beef up the front sway bar, since the 03 got the shaft on suspension.. they got like a 15mm in the front, you rarely want to smaller front sway bar

I agree the 19 will be fine for the steet, however I have an 01 (with the 25.4mm Front bar) and To get the handling ballance I wanted I down sized the front bar to the 03's 16mm one.
The rest of the suspension reads like this
Eibach pro kit springs and an RSX 19mm rear.
The car is very fun, and easily tossable. Ran this setup down at this years Solo 2 national tour in Phoenix, and even when it rained on us durring the event the car was supprisingly stable. Only thing I'm missing now is shocks.

well, the majority of the public are going to be used to a little understeer in the car's handling, so having a larger front sway bar will not drastically change the dynamics of the car

I just bought the 22mm Progress bar, couldn't seem to get the 19mm RSX bar so settled for Progress. When I bought it I got that sick feeling keep looking for a better deal and sure enough I find the H&R bar at 20mm for about $160. Well, live and learn, if I don't like it I will sell it on ebay or here for you all.

^^ your talking about the front bar?? I'd put in the 22mm bar and see how it felt. If it was a bit to *** happy for your liking then I'd price an 02s 22mm front bar or the 01s 25.4mm one.

Litte handling tuning guide for anti roll bars...
Up size front bar = Less oversteer/more understeer
Dowsize front bar = More Oversteer/Less Understeer
Up size Rear bar = More oversteer/Less understeer
Down size Rear bar = Less oversteer/more understeer
examples of Oversteer and understeer
How I have my suspension set up....
Stock 01 civic = 25.4mm front bar and a 13mm rear bar.......
I swaped in a 19mm rear bar and a 16mm front bar. See above for effect.

yeah for autox purposes i think i want to drop a size on my front sway bar because i get so much push, i love having my rear end come out a little everyonce in a while, a lot of civics that autox around here are taking off their front upper struts, assuming they are settup for it.- my susp. mods as
nuespeed race, koni, rear lower tie, rear 22mm sway, front upper strut. once i get my rear upper strut im gonna check out maybe a downsizing the front if that doesn't help.

I just upgraded to the Type-R 22mm anti sway bar from my OEM 12mm bar but have not tried to see how it levels things out in the corners yet until Grey's endlinks show up.
So far the car does seem to ride with less tilt in the corners though in regular driving.
Remember to have the proper tools ready before you start the exchange and you should have no problems. Mine took less than an hour including putting away the tools.
