I have finally ordered my ground control coilovers, but have yet to order koni front shocks. My main question is: Will the shock and coilover just fit each other and slide into the stock location without any modification? Also, what's this I hear about having to cut the front shocks to get the front to ride lower?
Yes, I have searched. Yes, I have found some useful information. Yes, I want answers, please.
Thanks.

if you want koni shock u must cut ur stock shocks to use the konis. their inserts not a full replacement shock. i had konis and they suk. i had them for a week and the rear shocks a dam ring is holdin the perch and guess what mine broke and my car just slammed in the back. waste of money. i went ahead and bought true coilovers and saved the hassle. few an xtra 150-200 you can buy true coilovers stead of coilovers then shocks which comes to like 750. dont buy konis. i wasted 550.

it doesn't really bother me, though, since I only have the car for another, what, 1 and a half years? by then I'll have a sti
or something better (*cough*bimmer*cough*)

I hate to rain on your parade, but I'd hardly call B+Gs a High performance suspension. Whats the Spring rate on those things? How about the Valving on the shocks? are they Twin tube or mono shocks?
and about Ground Controls and Koni Yellows..... Well I'm an advid autocrosser, and I went and raced at the national tour last weekend. Know what I found? about 90% of my compition (STS) was running custom rate ground controls and Koni shocks. Why? because Ground control is a great company that Loves racing, and they build a high quality product just for that pourpous. and the konis, for the money they are some of the best performing shocks you can get. (Next to $1,000 a piece Penskes and $800 a piece Motons) They are Inexpensive and can be rebuilt and revalved for custom applications.
oh ya, your sig says "Welcome to the B+G family", so I fail to see how that equals Owning.
Sprechen sie Deutsch?
HAHA^^^HAHA Ja SEHR GUT!!!
lol
I THINK Zzyzx knows what he's talking about, lol. And apparently he knows GERMAN!!! WOW, I'm impressed, lol. j/k
In reading people's opinions on specific parts, one has to take into account, 1) The opinion giver 2) The application of the specific part(s) the opinion giver has expierenced 3) YOUR PURPOSE for purchasing the part(s).
i.e. I've heard people say that Skunk2 coilovers are good from some people and BAD from others. 1) The people that have given the opinion purchased them for the popular brand name (speculation) 2) MOST of the people that say they are good, use them for show, and really don't race (Auto X anyway, drag is another story) 3) My purpose for the inquiry was for AUTO X applications...
Thus, my conclusion is that, Skunk2 is ok for show, but NOT for Auto X
But again, it's just my $0.02

I think you should try to install it yourself, and save a couple hudred dollars, but if you don't think you can do it, I don't advise it.

The front koni is what's bothering me because I am going to have to cut my original shock/strut (which one, btw?). Also, does it matter if my current front shocks are blown? I went over a speedbump today at what seemed to be 0mph (according to the speedo, but who knows, it coulda been 10mph!) and the front right shock just sounds horrible.

If theyre blown, your gonna have to replace them anyways. So why replace them again with stock when you can get aftermarkets with a better warranty and performance.
