loud thumping noise

hi guys, i just installed my front and rear strut bars (generic ones off of ebay), and now i'm hearing a really loud, thumping noise any time i go in reverse. i am not quite sure if this is related to the installatioin of the strut bars, but just wanted to hear your opinions. my vic has been rattling for a long time, so it could just be a coincidence....thanks for any input.

1. Make sure the front bar isn't hitting the hood.
2. Make sure you retorqued all the bolts to 33 ft-lbs
3. Make sure the bar ends are tightly bolted to the crossbar.
4. If all else fails take them off and see if the noise remains. If so, take the car in.

i have no air intake installed, so that's definitely not the problem. on top of that it's only doing it when going in reverse. if i go forward there's no noise at all. the ends are tighly bolted, and the front bar isn't hitting the hood. i'm not so sure as to what retorquing the bolts to 33 ft-lbs means, so maybe that has to do with it. i dunno, any other suggestions?

Retorquing means to check and make sure that you tightened the nuts that hold the struts in place with a torque wrench to 33 ft-lbs.
