well, i need new struts. i can get them for 130 (front) and 100 (rear) a piece. so thats 460 plus tax plus shipping and handling plus installation and its starting to rack up. i dont even like my goldlines all that much anymore. so i am thinking of buying tein ss or b&g coilovers instead but have heard about the winter weather beating the **** outta coilovers. anyone got em that also deals with snow and road salt/sand/grim? how do u clean them?

so brothersound, u do this before winter or like once a month during winter or what? and u sure did apply generously...damn. when u wash them, u just hose it down real well, or do u get in there with soap and water and scrub or what? also, if u do this before winter, is there a need to wash and reapply the grease throughout the winter season, or can i just maybe jack it up once in a while and check to make sure it isnt to bad?
thanks for the pics and info though....really making me consider teins...just gotta work some more, haha.

By the looks of it I may re-apply some grease in early-mid december and then again in late january. I've briefly looked at it a couple times and it seems like its wearing away a little, much more on the rears probably since they're closer to the ground. the front suspension sits much higher in the car so its not exposed to all the winter road crap as much.
In the spring I'll just try & spray it off, if that does'nt take it off I'll get in there with some soap/de-greaser and a scrubber. or maybe even a pressure washer, but I'm just not sure about the high pressure water shooting around my "brake lines"??
I may need to wash & re-apply during the winter. my whole goal is to avoid rust (especially on the threads, but I have a feeling the threads are stainless steel), anyhow what makes steel/iron rust is oxygen. salt & water act as catalyst's meaning they speed up the rusting process, so if any salt/sand gets under the grease it could contact the threads.. i may just want to wash off the sand & salt and re-seal it with more grease..
the shock won't rust as long as green paint stays good, but like i said I have a feeling the threads are stainless steel along with the perches. i mean why wouldn't they be, it only makes sense to make them stainless steel. Also I left them completely exposed to the elements from may (when they were installed) until October when I applied the grease. and they were all still shinny and rust free.. so me thinks the threads are stainless..

ya thats another thing, i wish my drop was a bit lower but the teins only go a tad lower than the goldlines, i think at the full drop, the teins will be a perfect drop in my eyes......so i think im going with teins.
