Decided what coilovers to get: KW's
Dust boots are fine but not absolutely necessary. I'm not running them on my Koni's and everything's great. You'll notice that nothing really sticks too much to the shaft anyway but if it does, it'll be cleaned off as the shaft slides down into the shock through the tight seal.

that sound is from the gas compressing then decompression in the shock. That is a normal noise. The dust boot, like was said, is not necessary but helps.

Have you gotten your camber kit installed? Just wondering any tips on the front adjustment, I did apretty good job with a level on the back, but need to adjust the fronts some, I mean I know the general process, but any tips would help. Alignment will happen in a week or so once I decide the final height, probably too low right now.

anyway after my alignment my fronts were at -.8 which the spec calls for anywhere between 0.0 through -.8 so they're fine i think. My rears were about +.4 not bad for eyeing it..
I have a method worked out where I jack up one wheel, adjust camber, drop it back down... measure with the level, repeat... I just attached a stick of MDF to span the tire to a 12" 3 way level, the backs look good, fronts need work.
hehe, that noise is cool
glad it's supposed to be there

You can go low enough to not fit your wheels inside your wheel well... I had the spring perch raised up 1.5" in the front and had no finger gap.
Ride is nealy nice takes corners like none other... not bouncy, but It feels like I can drive like I wanna drive now, not like the car is holding me back... like it runs up and down corners. More later, Ocelaris

Hi guys, you have a valid discussion on the bump stops under-way. I would like to offer the following information for consideration.
If you look at the picture of the Tein’s, you see that the dust cover is accordion in style and very long. You will also notice that the spring seats are at their lowest position, a position where the car most likely would not be driven. Here is an example of another manufacturers similar bump stop/dust boot setup that has been in service for a very short time that I found on the internet.

Two years ago, KW had the same solution, but found that when the vehicles are set at only a mild drop, the dust boot runs out of travel room and would bunch up at the lower spring perch.
In doing so, it would get sliced open by the traveling springs allowing all debris into the shaft area compromising the integrity of the shock.
With these findings in hand, the engineers at KW studied the corrosion effects against the chrome and annealed piston rods determining that only the area under the bump stop needed guarding. By developing new molds, KW has engineered self-centering dust boots that will never misalign and that will skirt the piston guide seal at all times.
This is just another part of the working system from KW that is not a ready prepared off the shelf solution, rather one that has been developed, tested and approved for each individual coil over system.

So basically you are saying that the dust boots would eventually rip open and not be helpful anyway if the car wasn't dropped low enough?
Is there any type of custom applications that can be made? Like higher spring rates, pillowball upper mounts, etc? If so how much would those cost?
I am glad you came over here.

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying my coilovers, lowered to 2 finger gap all around. Rides great, took it out to the country today for a little spin
Still need an alignment, but so far no squeaks or creaks.

As for custom applications, we are able to build applications to suit any of your needs or desires, rates, valving, lowering/raising ranges, different mounts basically anything. As for price, we can quote out on any custom application, but as you can imagine, the father you deviate from the production units, the more costly they get. Just let me know what you need, and I can get you a quote!
We do offer many spring rates that can be interchanged if you are confident on your preferred setup. They can be shipped with an additional set of springs in a different rate from the recommended units for the price of two additional springs, or you can specify the rate you wish to have and substitute them.
Thanks again for the warm welcome!
That all depends. The KW kit for your car allows for a 2.5" below stock ride height.
That said, do the wheels that you have support going that low. Is the offsett correct to do this without interfering with the body, or the suspension etc....
I am pretty sure that you can, if your wheels allow you to. In my next post I will give you the info on how to measure this properly to see how low you can go.

To properly measure the lowering offered by KW check out a stock Civic and make sure that the vehicle is on level ground.
Measure from the center of the wheel hub to the inside of the top of the fender well as in the diagram below. Take this measurement (marked as B in the diagram).
Then take out the 2.6" and you can see how low you can get your car!

Glen -
Its cool that you took the time to come to this board. I've been reading the three big boards for a while now (clubrsx, ephatch, and this one), and see you've made your presence known the others as well. This makes a good impression on us when the actual manufacturer puts it on the line for us.
As for me, I can't wait to get mine on Wed (hopefully!) - I'll be the first LX with 'em (at least on here I believe)! Unfortunately I won't be able to install them until next week due to the fact that I'll be out of town next weekend.
But anyhow, thanks again for dropping by.....

Limited lifetime warranty. Essentially if something to do with manufacturing goes wrong, blown seal or spring, then we will replace it. If you drive into a curb, or get into an accident, its not warranty, but we will do our best to get you rolling again!
Thanks for the super speedy shipping of my rebate Glen, Can't say enough about my service from KW and HPA motorsports. I'm not normally a sticker kinda guy, but after my experience with KW, I'd be proud to don some big stickers on my car. Got a few pics for the rest of you all on my drop.
Sorry, if it wasn't obvious, one is before and after the coilovers... the bright one was in the morning when I started, and the dark one was at night after I finished... Ok, so it took me all day to complete, but it was my first time doing it, and I was workin alone, so it took quite a while, but It was all worth it.

Unfortunately Jedo - I haven't....The shipment was delayed last week, Glen said that if he received them yesterday he would ship them out asap, and hopefully I should see them by Wed. I'm crossing my fingers....
But of course, since I'm in east houston right now, the fact that we are under a hurricane warning doesn't help matters either!

Yeah, I'm here for work right now in Deer Park. Staying in Pasadena. I'll be here until Sept sometime (as far as I know), things could change. That'd be cool...I really haven't done a whole lot as far as looks go to my ride, just trying to get the performance aspect taken care of before looks.....
