Hrrm.. wouldnt it be almost as cheap to go with an aftermarket kit? That pricing is about 260 per side you have there, unless you have some cores your could return.

you may want to get the Master cylinder and brake booster from the Si as well, other wise the new rear disks will still be geting the same pressure as the Drums use to, and wont be working to their potential.

You need more than that. the hubs as well and a few other key parts. and yes you may want the booster and mastercylinder for best performance.

u know, a bigger front disc probably does more than swapping the rear drums to disc.

not for our car no and when and if they do itll be well over 1200.00 the SI conversion is by far the cheapest route to go but dont go through the dealership to get all the parts. The do however make a rear kit for the SI but its a black heavy one piece that will run over 600.00 then you need the hubs and all the other neccessary parts on top of that.

Yeah, but the rear discs look nice.
In the cars I've drove with rear discs (GS-R, G20, RSX and Tiburon V6), the rears give you a more direct brake feel at low speeds. It was kind of embarrasing when I lightly tap the brakes and the whole car stops suddenly.

As far as cornering goes, if the rears absorb some of the braking load, then the weight shift to the front wouldn't be as dramatic. That should theoretically assist in preventing understeer by balancing out the weight load and keeping some of the weight shift in the rear for more neutral steering.

I'm eventually going to get a rear disc conversion but I'm not sure what the big price difference would be if I went with the EM2 (F) + EP3 (R) or the DC5 (F) + DC5 (R). If the difference is not that much, then a DC5 conversion would be a very nice addition to the EM2.

It seems that the Acura EL (Canadian) or Civic Si brakes will work. I spent a day with my buddy comparing the Si and Ex on a rack and all the parts are pretty much identical except:

1. Calipers and all hardware
2. Disks and all hardware, including rear knuckles
3. Brake lines and all hardware-from the rear hard line
4. Entire parking brake cable and hardware

Installation is pretty much outlined in the Si's manual.

The big thing is that the Si uses Electronic Brake Distribution. Which is pretty much not going to be installed, so the EX's brake proportioning valve will need to be replaced.

So the question is, does the Acura EL (from Canada) use just a valve, and if so can anyone here get it?

Thanks

Here is the latest update on rear disk brakes. If you want to keep it four lug, you will need the rear brake assemblies from the knuckle out. This includes, the knuckles, bearings, brake hoses, parking brake cable, disks, and calipers.

All the parts should just bolt up. The Civic Ex manual tells how to remove, use the Si manual to install (and peform maintenance). After this, you will have Si rear brakes, so you will have no problem finding pads or replacement rotors.
