Tire Sizing Problems

Here's the deal. I have a 2002 Civic Sedan LX (Canadian model), which I believe has the same wheels as the american EX model. I was told that 205/40/17 was the tire I should get on the new Motegi MR7's (17x7) i am getting. I called tiretrends.com and they told me that either 205/45/17 or 215/40/17 is the size I need. They said 205/45/17 fits the best, but 215/40/17 will fit too, but not as exact. I asked the guy about 205/40/17 and he said they are a little small, or something about the profile, sidewall, etc. So yeah, what size tires should I get? I was kind of mad because 205/45/17 are more rare, and so they are more expensive and not found in lower end tires (i.e. Kumho Ecsta 711 does not have that size, have to upgrade to Kumho 712). What do you think?

When i had 17x7.5 I had 215/45-17 which fits the best, closest to the stock wheel diameter.

17x7, i would put on 205/45-17 which fits the best. if u can't find it, then go with 215/45-17 if you want more rubber, if you want less profile which might look better lowered, go with 205/40-17

right now im running 205/45 and i know that the 215/40 fits good as well...in fact the next ones that i will be buying are the 215/40...the 205/40 is too small for me

then again...after the new tires are slapped on, i will probably be mounting them on the wifes car and buy some 19s for mine

I heard that if you have 17x7 or 7.5 205-215 will fit....it's not going to **** up your tires if you do either one....I am going with a 17x7.5 rim and I am putting on a 205-40-r17 on them...and I am going with a 205 because I don't want to risk the chance of having to roll my fender if and when I get a camber kit....
