40 offset on 18x7.5?
I have finally decided on the rims Im getting. The issue is just with the offset. The rim size is 18 x 7.5 and the offset is 40. I plan to drop it with the sportlines or something with a similar drop. Im just concerned that with the offset being 40 and the width 7.5" that it might rub. I am hoping to get 215/40/18 size tires might instead get 215/35 if there is a chance of rubbing.
I've down a search and many people say 40-45 offset is good. But im sure it makes a difference with the rim size. Anyone have this setup and can comment on it?
Thanks

I got sportline, and 18x7.5 running with Falken 512 215/40-18, no problem at all. I am exchanging tomorrow for 225/40-18 cuz 215 on 7.5 width look funny. Another member also got 225/40-18, he said he has no rubbing
I have an offset of +42, the +40 offset may sit in a little closer but being that mine are 7" wide and yours are 7.5" wide the difference should not matter that much if any. It should be no problem with the +40.

well, I went through 3 sets of aftermarket rims and 5 sets of tires. my first set was 17s with 215/45-17 and, 215/35-18, 215/40-18, 225/40-18
This one with 215/45-17. Offset 40mm

215/40-18, tomorrow, i am getting 225/40-18. 7th gen Civic has more tolerance than 6th and previous. if you get 35%, then you will have more gap, and somewhat less protection to the rims. If you get 40%, you will loose some mileage insignificantly (depends on the total weight of the wheel). Which is more important, it's up to you. I am getting 225/40-18 so the sidewall of the tires will flush with the lips of the rims. 215 looks a lil crooked to me, and 6 out of 7 friends I've asked, they say the wheels will look better flushed.

hey CivicBR900EX thats too bad it didnt work out... You know I think I was getting the same rims as you but in chrome. The ones I was getting were Panther emr219, but your profile says Jaguar emr249. But they look the same... I really did like the rims but was worried about the 40 offset and also the weight. So yesterday I went to the shop and decided on RS Limited Trama. They come in machined silver, which I've had that type of finish before and I loved the shine when they spun. Hopefully these look as good when spinning. Im also getting Falken's 512 cause I want an all season tire. The rims are on order and will come in a week. In the mean time Im deciding between 215/35/18 or 215/40/18. It seems like that little bit of extra tire does not make the car's stance seem as aggressive. Well I gotta a week to decide and then I cant wait to put the rims on!

oops, I must have typed it wrong, I was thinking "panther" or some other big cat type of animals...... then I typed in "Jaguar"
I would suggest go with 215/40-18. on 18x7.5. 215/40-18, you have a lil more protection and your speedometer will only be off by like .06%. when you go down to 35% series, your speedometer will be more off and less protection to the rims. plus, 215 on 7.5 width are a bit narrow already, if you really wanna go with 40% series, I'd say get 225/35-18, I think Nitto has that size, too bad, Falken doesn't make that size....i already checked.

oh the weight on these rims aren't that much, it's very average for common 18s. in it's low 20s. I chose these rims, cuz no one on the site has them and I don't seen them everywhere, they are unique yet, nice and elegant. I wished they made 4 holes on these tho. I paid $140 per wheel... just let you know.

yeah i dont think the falkens come in 225/35. www.1010tires.com seems to have all sizes for the tires but they dont show that size, only 225/40.
About the weight of the rims, Im not saying that those rims are heavier than norm. I was planning on getting chrome because I wanted more of a shine than regular silver. Im pretty sure the chromes weight more than the silver, and that was an issue for me.
