Tire and rim sizes...
I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX Sedan. They have (stock) P185-70-R14's on them (which are now broken due to a run in with a cat/racoon, propane canister, and a curb). I'm looking to get 15" rims, not sure what brand, and I need new rubber too as my Toyo's are shot after scraping and slamming into a curb. So what I need to know is what size tire can I get away with, without re-callibration? Like how much wider can I safely run without rubbing, etc... I need to know this so that I can just buy some new 14" steel rims for the winter tires when it comes time to put them back on, and it wouldn't mess up my speedometer, etc... Thanks
Yeah, the Potenzas rock. But I would go to 16's. 15 is barely a jump from the stockies. tirerack.com has a visual thing on their website where you can pick your car and then see what it'd look like w/ different size rims on, pretty cool. They also have a calculator showing how tire/rim affects speedo calibration. I think you'll see w/ 16's and the right size tire, your speedo will hardly be off at all.
I got my potenzas for free!!! My stock firestones were considered defective since they were bald at 8,000 miles so firestone upgraded and gave me new potenzas for free. sweet deal huh?
They are 185/65/15. The bill came to something like $400 with mounting and balancing but it was all overpriced since he knew i wasnt paying. I think they go for something like $60 a tire.

Cool, not bad. Right now we have, or should I say had, Toyo Spectrum tires. I thought they were good, and they weren't expensive.
Where is this tire calculator you guys speak of btw?
